Ela, You should invest in some credits for Scotlandspeople as it is much cheaper to research Scottish ancestors as Scottish certificates give more information. I think that it is possible that James's wife Margaret Cairns died in 1922. The chances are that his children moved to Lincoln too.

Yes, I do have the marriage cert,

all lie's , it was a bigamous marriage,

but ..... I must not go in to that :-D

she said she was a widow , they both did , they both lied , both previous partners

were still alive, :-| or at least Charles wife was, James Dickie ( still could be under the patio )

Do you have the marriage cert of Rose to Charles? It should give her marital status at the time ie divorced. or. widow

Ela

Ela Report 11 Feb 2014 08:52

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it

Thank you for your interest in my search.

Rose Barton did marry James Dickie in 1925, and from then onwards I am fully

stocked with the family coming forward in time,

apart from the disappearance of James Dickie around the time of his wife Rose's

affair with Charles Winifred Lanes, but that is another story :-S ( maybe went to work in Canada, or more likely ended up under the patio )

The folks on here have amazed Me with their help, and I have lots to add to my

branches,

I still have to find when James Dickie came to Lincoln, so going to the library to

trawl through the electoral registers .

must get a list together of questions now nead to try and get answered :-D

and work out how many certificates I need to order .( the much needed new

washing machine will have to wait )

Eillen.

Well, just to make your head buzz even more..........William's father George was born in Ayrshire and there are quite a few Dickies in that area. And loads of Wilsons (his mother's maiden surname) in Ayrshire too.

rootgatherer

rootgatherer Report 10 Feb 2014 22:16

On earlier census George is listed as a Fancy Box maker, so just guessing it is probably some sort of wood turning machine?

The marriage certificate was available online from Scotlandspeople. You can look on there for William's birth and his pafrents marriages and deaths. £7 for 30 credits. 1 credit to view search results and 5 to view / download certificate.
