Find Ancestors

Hi all i am trying to find the children of charlotte hill and silas hill. charlotte was born c.1818 and silas was born c. 1807. it says on the census that 10 children were born, i have some but not all. please help thanks sue

Have you looked for possible births and deaths of any children born between the census records please?

I thought only the 1911 census recorded the number of children born in a marriage?

so sorry i am trying to do two people at once her i got it wrong it charlotte and silas's son william who had ten children william was born c.1844 ans married elizabeth born c.1841 living in hampshire

this william came from crookham and i am presuming it is the same william in the 1881 census who was the son of charlotte hill, the place of birth is different. but i cannot find the 1881 william on any other census. i am guessing its the same one as they are both in hampshire, but knowing me i am probably wrong. sue

This is the William that you have on the 1911 census in 1891 and he is a Fishmonger. So looks like a different person.

So the question is which of these Williams is the one from your family?

Are you descendended from a sibling of William son of Silas and Charlotte or are you a direct line descendant from the William on the 1911 census please?

Ok, Thank you. Then I suspect that the William that you have found on the 1911 isn't you William but the other fellow.

I can't see an obvious match for your William after 1881. So I wonder???

You asked about the best site.........well, for research, it certainly isn't GR

When your sub expires, my advice would be not to renew it. If you'd asked around on here before taking out the Platinum sub, you'd have been advised against it.

Those of us who try to help on here mostly use Ancestry, although a number are now using FMP, because they have 1911.

Personally, I have Ancestry.......plus the 1911 on FMP
