hi everyone ,well i dont no were to start ,i arrived there bit a early got out of the car looked around and saw many family members ive not seen for a few yrs ,that was it i hid behind the car with my daughter as was having anx attack ,calmed myself down and went in .it was a lovley service ,had 3times a lady played and cerline deone (sorry spelling ) the vicar told us about her life and went on to say she was a animal lover and as i looked out of the full glass window there were 2 little ducks walking past witch made me smile to myself god bless you auntie xxx im worn out now .but many thanx to you all for your thoughts today xxx elaine xxx

Hi Kathy - why don't you keep a washing up liquid bottle full of water near your front door and squirt it at the cat - won't hurt him but he certainly will not like it - or one of those water blaster toys that kids have!!! I thought superglue was water soluble?

Didn't post yesterday as I made it in on the bus to my unpaid job at the history society .
Managed to break my reading glasses the night before the leg fell off so clever me tried super glue which didn't work !! but managed to get it all over my worktop .
A letter arrived for me son earlier this week calling him on jury service .Kept phoning him but as usual phone turned off
SO before I got in to work yesterday I had to go to the court and explain he is 300 miles away .The woman eventually agreed that he could be excused .( he has the attention span of a gnat so would have been useless any way ! )
Then off to the optitian who told me she couldn't fix glasses as I had covered the screw with super glue .She took pity on me and 45 minutes later had the leg back on . I finally got to work almost 2 hrs late .
Have spent hours today trying to remove the glue from my worktop without success .
My neighbour gave me some nail polish remover and when I came back to my house the horrible cat from next door was sitting on the top step and wouldn't let me in !!! I had to go get my neighbour to remove him . Fancy being scared of a cat . That reminds me better go see if my one wants in since bully boy from next door is on the war path .

hello and welcome Ben, this is a good place to find support for your problems everyone is very understanding and tolerant.

Carole, wound still very sore but (dare i say it) it does seem a little better than yesterday so fingers crossed.

Just been out for lunch with OH and we met up with a friend from Essex and her sister who lives in Chepstow. We intended having lunch at a pub we have used before by the river Severn. Unfortunately they seem to be under new management and the menu has changed - no fish and chips, in fact no chips at all, we were not the only ones to walk out. We may have stayed but when we went in I walked into the restaurant part and a young lady with attitude huffed and pointed out they usually showed people to the restaurant (we are talking here about a pub with about 30 tables in the restaurant area)in case they have people booked in. There was nobody else in the restaurant. Anyway, their loss, we drove back down the A48 to a place that had been recommended to us, started out as a fish distributor and have now opened a fish restaurant, fish shop and delicatessen. so we had wonderful fish, chips and mushy peas. everything in the shop looked really fresh, lovely fish, pies, cheeses, olives. we didn't buy anything except sticky toffee pudding, but we will go back there sometime.

Hi everyone. Welcome Ben, good to see more people who want to talk about things that really matter. My step-son has ocd and tourettes, it can be hard coping with him when he forgets to take his tablets (he is 22). He ralises now though that he is a different person with people so he does take them more regularly.

I have phobias which don't help when you have other problems, heights, snakes and falling. I can't let anyone go in front of me on stairs in case they fall, it's not just me falling it's anyone that I see.
There are so many varied problems in this world but they all cause grief and upset to someone. Sorry, I am going to get morbid again

Ben hello and welcome to the thread. I also use to have rituals! I worked hard to stop them and now feel the need sometimes, but try not to let myself start them again. I was obsessed with not touching things outside my house. Hand rails on public stairways and so on, I wont say them as it could give others ideas and make them turn on that light in their head that say's oh yes I didn't think of that I will in future!!
There are a couple of others on here with ocd, I'm sure they will like to swap stories, and offer you a shoulder to off load onto. You are not alone xx

Morning all.
I am sooo tired this morning, sky is overcast, please don't let there be more snow, went grocery shopping at midnight on my way home, good time to go, the shop is virtually empty, but I still didn't get home with my bags till 1:30.
Welcome Ben, there are a lot of wonderful supportive folks on this thread,varied symptoms, but accepting of all.

Mine is hoarding and has caused major problems in my life, I will be back on here later tonight, after 11pm so will pm you then.

Hi Ben, nice to see a newcomer on the thread - like Caz I have no experience of OCD other than it seems to control people's lives - keep posting though Ben because there are other OCD posters on this thread and I am sure you will be able to help each other.

Hello Ben, welcome to our thread, it's nice to see you are able to 'talk' to us. I can't say I can understand what you are going through with OCD but we have another lady on here who suffers as well, she should be on later.
I know what you mean when you have a breakthrough on your tree and doubt it, I am always doing that, doubting all the time, and checking over and over again, but at least I know I have the right one in the end lol.

I have depression and anxiety which is controlled by Paroxetine 30mg. I also have the dreaded mental illness Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) I have symptoms such as rituals, checking, doubting, fear of violent thoughts, and the illness can ruin my hobbies sometimes, even genealogy findings with triumph can turn into constant doubting afterwards like "Is it really true?? have I got the right person" even with more than enough evidence to prove it is.

it's so sad that some people are unable to show emotion - my Mum and Dad were very loving parents but were never ones to kiss people or hug them - they found it embarrassing - I think it's the way they were brought up. I'm a touchy feely kind of person, very tactile, but only with people who are comfortable with it. I've just about recovered from last weekend in London - taken a long time!!! Nice to see you all by the way - miserable day weatherwise in Cardiff but we have the Rugby match to look forward to at 5:00 pm when hopefully Wales will thrash France and we'll have the Grand Slam - wish OH was here to be part of it, he was rugby mad and would have been in seventh heaven today!! I shall turn his photograph to the screen for the match!!

Caz the flat sounds lovely. I wish my aunt would move into one. You are doing the right thing but it must be awful having to sort out what you can't
take. In the long run it will be so much easier/safer for you both.

Elaine will have us all reaching out cyber hands for her today. It's very brave of her to go , would be so easy to just say she can't do it.

Scooby, (stares at screen) what can I say. You know you can talk in a pm to anyone you feel a conection with when you are ready. Have you had counceling? Just starting mine. No abuse or anything like that but I never felt loved. Dad was not able to show emotion, mum was a good mum but again not emotionally suportive. After her brothers funeral she and dad, mums brother and wife were like thats that out the way, shall we go to Newark shopping? Old photos meant nothing to her she just threw them out. Never asked if anyone else would want them. I guess I find her a bit cold. My oh always says he loves me, but even after 27 years I know it, but don't, if you know what I mean. I saw a little boy killed under a bus when I was 11, it was brushed under the carpet by all. I still think about it.

Gail, pleased that MiL is getting on OK, the party will be the tonic she needs I am sure. Hope you managed to get a good noghts sleep and come back to us refreshed.

YCaz, flat sounds good, will you have to sell/get rid of a lot of your things? I would find that hard as I have so much stuff of sentimental value including two wooden armchairs passed down the family to me, one a great Aunts and one my Grandfather's. I am sure the children wont want them! No room in modern houses. Hope it all goes well and you acquire a flat quickly.

Hi everyone, not long home so very tired.

MIL is out of the woods and will be home sometime next week, has had all the tests, and is very bruised, and heart attack was from bloodpressure being too high and have changed all her meds. Docs said once meds are fixed up she will be able to have her party when we planned, but she must rest over the next 2 weeks.

Love to all of you and will get back after a good nights sleep.
