any news of Joyce, thinking of her this afternoon.

Justice of Peace Report 2 Jan 2008 16:15

Good afternoon Cariad,

Don't know whether to say I am glad to still be at home....

or sorry that I am still here......

The day after I had posted my message
I had a call from my doctor who said she had made contact with a consultant who would be sending an appointment date out to me..............which is the 9th of this month........

Needless to say I have been sitting on hot coals and just wishing whatever.. could be over and done with to give me peace of mind.

I do not mind hospitals or operations, well I do really and if necessary will go along with it......

It is the waiting that is getting to me I'm afraid.....................

Tis strange that you should have posted today because I was thinking along the same lines as you, and of the other folk who had sent me messages, some of whom had appointments for treatment too.

I have been on the boards from time to time.... or rather just passing the time away....

Thanks for your concern Cariad, promise to post the afternoon of the 9th Jan....
and let you know what's happening..

Bye for now and best of luck to you folks out there who are waiting like me for news...

Joyce x

To all the caring members and friends who bolstered me up for my visit to see the consultant on the 9th...today.....

I now have to have three tests done:

Another ultrasound to check the aneurysm..
A heart scan.. whatever
Lung capacity test.

Results with be fed back to an anaesthetist who will decided if I am fit enough for the operation.

My consultant is almost a 100% sure that an operation will not take place due to my age..76, the fact that I have a slight heart murmur and am not breathing to my full capacity due to smoking..

Because the operation is a major one only the fittest survive..

We ended the consultation by him saying, because he realised I was mentally a very strong person he would not pull his punches..
He told me to go home and try and forget I had a health problem...I could live for another 5years or more, I could be taken ill on my way out of the hospital, could die whilst in my bed.. or anywhere at any time..........
IF my daughter or ambulance could get me to a hospital within say 1/2 hr..then all they could do for me would be to ensure I was free from pain..the end.

Right now I am in total shock but I suppose I could be struck by lightening, get run over by a bus or even choke on a piece of bread.......

What do they say, 'what's for you never goes by you'.

Sorry for being a damp squib....but thank you all for letting me get this off my chest... my daughter knows because she came to hospital with me, bless her..
as for the rest of the family we are not going to tell them.. why worry them with something 'yet to happen' if indeed it does.

Thanks for listening to me...

Bless you all,

JoyceP.

don't give up hope, perhaps the further tests will prove you are able to have the op, and are fitter than the doctor thinks.

My FIL was about 70, a smoker all his life, and had very bad circulation. He had the surgery as an emergency (he would have died if they had left it). Came through it all, and lived for another 10 years.

The only difference I can see between you , is he did not know he had it, until the scan, then straight into surgery, that day.
