i think every charity is a good charity .
my one would have to be the shooting star childrens hospice,they do a brilliant job .

I think the Air ambulance is a fantastic idea TW.

It would be a great memorial for Carol's son Richard.

All the charities mentioned are worthy and clearly mean something personal to everyone.

I think that what happened to Richard touched all our hearts x

I think its obvious that people will give to whatever charity they favour,regardless of what other people suggest.I give to several charities and will continue to do so,I wont change them for anyone.Sorry if this sounds different to how I mean it to be,its not meant to be unfriendly in any way. xxx

My Rainbows and I
tend to support Breast Cancer awareness, Children with Leaukaemia and local charities in our area, like the local animal shelter-we have raised £1000's over the years.

Recently my OH donated £100 from his business to spina bifida and to my son's nursery which is a registered charity too.

Last year for my 40th Birthday instead of getting pressies I asked if all could donate to BASIC
(Brain and Spinal Injury Charity) and we got nearly £500. I was dead chuffed. Me mam died of a Brain Haemorrage 11 yrs ago and wanted to put a little something back.

I normally only support my local animal charities but there was a piece in the paper last week about a young girl / child who cannot for a medical reason grow her hair - it just dosent happen. When she wrote to Santa all she wanted was long hair to be like the other girls.

Later in the week a mother and daughter offered to dontate their hair for a wig.

I have today come across a charity called little princess you will find the web site if you search. They take hair donations to make wigs for children with cancer.

I have very long hair and have toyed with getting it cut - I have decided to discuss with my partner tonight about getting it cut (before wedding next year - thats the bit to discuss) and donating it to this charity.

Kidney research and Greyhound rescue is the ones I do mostly.
Although I do a lot for Children's charities as well xx

British Lung Foundation

To help raise awarness of all Lung conditions including Asthma but more inportatntly COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)

COPD is a progressive, irreversible lung disease which kills around 30,000 people a year in the UK - more than breast, bowel or prostate cancer.

More than three million people in the UK are thought to have COPD, yet more than two out of the three million are undiagnosed. The British Lung Foundation is campaigning to find the ‘Missing Millions’ affected by COPD in the UK and is calling for the introduction of routine lung function tests every three years in primary care for all those people at risk. At risk groups include people aged over 35 with a smoking history or people who have suffered from recurrent chest infections. If diagnosed early COPD patients can be treated and the progression of the disease can be halted.

COPD is both preventable and treatable and early diagnosis and treatment can slow the progression of the illness. Symptoms include a persistent cough, breathing problems, a wheezy chest, and recurrent chest infections.


There are several members here who have this condition or care for sufferers.

mine would be The Meningitis Research Foundation.......working tirelessly to find a vaccine for B strain of the disease......thankfully my daughter survived it,but many don't or are left with limbs amputated,
