Hang on! You are quoting something that was said two years ago! Policy changes year on year.
I'm sure that was valid in 2005 but I have checked to confirm what I thought and according to the Department for Children, Schools and Families website, Beacon ceased in 2005.

Errol I said in 2005 he said it was all about league tables and in the views of parents it still is.

My friend teachers primary ( deputy head ) and she says the same that the focus is for the tables and the teachers performance and that there are other better ways to track children who are high or low achievers and develop teaching to suit raher than testing in an exam enviroment at such a young age

Thank god for calcualtors eh Helen !!! lol. I am really not good at maths it was a nightmare for me at school. I made up for it in other subjects but I do remember sobbing because I just couldn't grasp what on earth I was supposed to do with all those numbers !! xx

I still feel the same. Unnecessary exams are too stressful for young kids.

Weekly tests in a classroom and general work are surely are far more productive and accurate in gaging standards than unnatural exam conditions xx

But they are only called league tables by the press and subsequently the public.
It is purely a way of showing how one school performs against another.
If you take league tables on face value then that is wrong - try looking at demographics before asking why one school may be above or below another.

Totally agree. The school system has gone to pot. Ended up taking my 12 year old out of school and teaching her myself at home. When we had the home inspection, we were told that she has the ability of a 16 old and was ready to take her GCSE's. She was told at school that her reading ability was an 11 year old!!!

The best thing I ever did was to take her out of college, she has come on in leaps and bounds.
