Thanks for the invite Joyous and Twizzle. Quizzes I sometimes join in although they move very quickly for my brain at this time of night. Parties??? Long while since that was my scene and I think I prefer the real thing it's easier to relate to. I can sit quitely in a corner and enjoy everyone else having fun.

Thanks for all your comments. I think there is hope for the General Board yet. And GR Please give the mad hatters back their Chat Board.

I think Linda's observation is one that has been made many times before by members unhappy at the General Board being used as a "chat room".

Perhaps that is one reason why Genes changed the format of the current Chat Board to make it more like General with threads, in the hope that it would be used more by those who prefer to "chat" under headed topics?

Unfortunately, what seems to have happened is that there is barely any difference now between the two Boards, with some preferring to chat on General and vice-versa.

So perhaps Linda does have a point here, and the General Board would be better used for discussion under various topic headings, rather than for the one-line chats between members?

That wouldn't mean that members couldn't have a little banter on the General Board threads. I'd miss it if they didn't!!

Ah well, what will be, will be!

I did not use 'chat' in it's old format mainly because not having broadband i felt I would always be 'too late' with replies.

! have spent this evening clicking back and forth between both boards replying to different people but find it quite 'disjointed' doing that really.

I think we really might be better with just the one board now.....
I agree there are fewer 'serious' threads on at the moment, seems a lot of people are wary of posting them! I have been on several which descended into nasty personal comments and PMs and think that is why a lot of threads lately are 'frivolous' ....which is fine if that is what one is looking for, but sometimes it is nice to be intellectually 'stretched' a little lol

Well said Rose. Don't blame people who have been on the end of abusive PM's etc. from dropping off the Boards. Nobody should be subjected to that treatment. The best way to curtail personal attacks is for the thread poster to announce that they are going to delete, and then do it. Then delete any PM''s they might receive, don't bother reading them. Draw a line under it and move on

I know!! That was so easy to say. But then I am not as soft hearted as some people.

I agree Linda!

The reason why so many people don't come on here anymore is the countless threads which contain postings between 2 or 3 people, to the exclusion of others.

Even if the rest of us are supposed to be welcome, not many of us wish to discuss "Going for a bath" or some other exciting topic!

There's MSN or chat for that I would have thought!

Sorry if this offends, it's my opinion, & as I pay my sub I feel I have the right to voice it.

I have found that the threads where people are 'got at' are almost always deleted by the poster ,they can then claim 'innocence' because no one can check back on them!

Lynda.....really? Well I'm so disappointed you didn't put a thread up at the time....now we've missed all the excitement! lol

Joan...it was a different Lynda...known as Lyn on the boards. You can't have missed her numerous threads about the unfair pricing on GR. I had a thread saying that I was happy with the pricing. Both got zapped! lol

Hello Linda

I enjoy most threads of different subjects on the boards. I dont use chat much but I didn't before the changes. Mostly I joined in the debate threads but find that if your opinion differs then remarks get far to personal.

No Jeanette I'm sure that your topic wasn't to GR's liking. Seems we can only debate something here if it's GR approved.
I don't often post because of the problems on here, if only all threads could run in the same manner as this.
