General Chat

I do not add to threads very often but I have always enjoyed reading them in the past. The changes, made by GR, to the boards have not been for the good. I miss the people who use to put up interesting threads and debates. They are still around but have become readers and just pop up now and again. I can’t be doing with the ‘one liner’ brigade currently dominating both General and Chat. Nor am I interested in who is on what list for whichever reason. I make no apology for that, you are just not my scene. You are having great fun amongst yourselves, which is fine, but for anyone not in the gang it is a boring read.

One good thing, for me, is I have decided to return to my family research. I will look in now and again in the hope that some sanity will eventually return to the boards.

I think it is wrong to say that GR have "Changed the boards"

After all it is the members that post the messages is it not?

It is the posters yes, but I can't comment on how it used to be on chat as I never used it and have only been on general a few weeks.

In that time, it has got quieter, but is now becoming fun again.......when I find the right thread to stay on.

The debates I have seen have been quite nasty I'm sad to say.

sorry linda but i dont think thats called for.anyone is welcome to post,it sounds to me theres some who dont like the members having a bit of fun.

Peter read the kin post properly please , the boards have been changed by GR the layout and how we post have changed , it has sod all to do with members posting that this site has changed :-)))))))))

Sorry you feel there is a 'gang' thing going on here. I only know of one or two people who would tell anyone they can't post on their threads..otherwise all threads are open to anyone who wishes to join in. Its a public board, you can post where you like.

Come on Linda, youve had some really great threads that have made me laugh and sometimes cry . The main things is they have never been boring , always interesting . Give it a chance ? xxxx

The boards haven't changed as far as I am aware, they are still the same boards as there were before, nor has the way that we post changed.

You click on add then post your message.

They might look a bit more up to date but they work just the same.

The boards have changed as Twizzle points out. The people who like quick repartee use to be on the old chat.
Joyous you are right everyone has the right to post, but where seems to be the problem.
Kitty sometimes debates get nasty, usually when someone can't handle a different opinion to theirs.

I am not saying that there is anything wrong about the current type of posting, Just that it is not for me.

i never used chat so its not fair i comment.i only tried once,so i remain on the general boards.

I agree with Joyous. If you like debate and don't like the ones currently running. A new topic would be most welcome xx

looking at general theres a huge selection.most are different.bits of everything.

I tried in the past Joyous and then decided to stick to posting on other threads. Even then I tended to kill them.

I'm sure sanity will eventually return, so I will wait patiently in the background.

The Chat board wasn't that popular with a lot of members and when asked why this was, the reason was that it didn't have threads.

So, GR appear to have listened, and now you have threads on the Chat board.

I wonder why there is chat and a Gen topics, they look the same to me, and often the same people post the same things on both, think GR could do away with one or other.

A lot of people have left this site for new ones.
I think a lot of people feel the same as you Linda.

I am going to go against the flow and say I agree completely with Linda. Over the last few months the contents of the General board has changed and more recently the same with Chat board. Most of the time on the General board it is akin to childish games in the playground. Is everyone reverting to their childhood?

Ok I am in my fifties but still like a laugh the same as anyone but most of the time I don't find it funny.

It is no good saying "add your own thread" because I have watched people doing this and it soon drops of the page, to be replaced with more childish prattle.

Rant over. Sorry peeps if I haved offended anyone.

Off to do some research now while I have the house to myself.
