HI Sue My g grandmothers family also came from Wilts. the Barlow's from Netheravon. My wife's grandfather came from London I don't know when he moved to Bath as 1901 he was in Essex. Not sure of Movements until he married in Walcot Methhodist Chapel (Bath) in 1912 and lived at 4 Summerfield Terrace, on the North side of Bath. The family moved from Bath in 1938 to Hayling Island. Have pre war photo and recent photo of Summerfield Terrace, surprisingly little has changed. Take care Malcolm from Pompy |

Hi Sue. Further to my last, I used to commute to London from Tisbury, not as bad as it sounds. I lived in Ludwell for 10 years - next village to Donhead St Andrew. Small world is'nt it. Keith |

Hi Malcolm If you think you can make it to the Bath FH Fair then do leave a message on the thread started by Jill. Several of us are hoping to meet up to say hello that day. Whereabouts in Bath were your wife's family? We moved to Bath in 1988 from Northampton and lived there for 10 years before moving over here (and my maternal ancestors are from Somerset!). There are 2 DM sites, or there were the last time I looked. They may have been linked together by now. Sue |

Hi Sue The Dilton Marsh website is one of the better ones, well presented and lots of info. Yes I've heard of Dilton Marsh, I was even going to get off the train there once (there was roadworks on the road to westbury station) instead of Westbury, the train was to long for the platform and I was on the wrong part. My g.g.grandmother was Ann Applegate d/o William Applegate she married Owen Button in 1859 I don't know if I'll be going to Bath for the fair, would like to as I have tracked part of my wife's family to Bath, and I can visit my family in Somerset. I used to live in Frome and often walked the dogs up on the White Horse so had to pass through D.M. but never stopped. I now live near Portsmouth. Malcolm |

Julie I've been to Tisbury - pretty village with a nice antique shop! Not far from Donhead St Mary where Shelli's ancestors are residing. Malcolm At last - someone who's heard of Dilton Marsh. I'll check to see if there are any Cornicks still around. And I'll look at the Applegates too. Have you looked on the Dilton Marsh website? Sue |

Hi Sue I have 3 lines going back to Wiltshire from Somerset. Looks like they left to work in the Somerset coal mines. Applegate's from Westbury, Cornick's from Seend and Lay's from Enford. I've never lived in Wilts. but my daughter was born in Salisbury. Do I qualify to join? One of my Cornick branches returned to Wilts and in the 1901 census is living in Dilton Marsh don't know if any still around. Malcolm Lay |

I traced a great, great, great grandfather to Wiltshire (Bedminster actually) and many other distant relatives so off I went, about twenty years ago, to a place called Tisbury - felt like the back of beyond but a pretty place. To my surprise, despite me thinking my name, Sanger, was very unusual, the graveyard was full of them! Seems like that was where the Sangers began so do I have a claim on Wiltshire? |

Hi Jenny Yes I remember - am I still supposed to be looking up something for you? Since we were in contact before we've redecorated the office, shifted everything around and I have no idea where all my 'still to do' bits of paper have vanished to!! Sue |
