Mea I used to live in Hartwell. Family still lives in Towcester area, Roade, Stoke Bruerne, Shutlanger and Northampton. Ancestors were from Blisworth and Milton. Mary If you do a Google search for boot & shoe Northampton you should come across a site giving a lot of information which I think was written by Victor Hatley. He was librarian at Nene when it was called Northampton College of Technology. I can't remember the site but I found it a year or so ago. You may need to narrow the search down a bit, but give it a go, you might get lucky. Hi everyone from Northants. Haven't been on GR for about 9 months other than for a brief periodic browse. Glad to know the Northamptonians are still alive and kicking. Sue (now in Wiltshire) |

Hi Janet I saw your thread and thought I would leave a message. My name is Sue Mace, I am an Aussie but I have traced my ancestors back to Brigstock, Northamptonshire. I believe around the 1700 and early 1800s there were a lot of Mace's living in Brigstock with many of them being buried there. My G.G.G. Grandfather Amos Mace was buried there in 1849. His son also named Amos Mace migrated to Australia around 1841 which is how I got here in Tasmania. Sue from Tassie |

Hi Shaz - Where in Hartwell did you live? I used to live in the house between the Chapel and the shop in Forest Road in the 1970s. We had a small engineering firm in the buildings behind the house. Not sure what is there now, but there were two tall firtrees at the front. Sue |

Hi Sue, I only lived in Hartwell from 0ctober 78 until April 79. We lived in Robins Close! I do remember the little shop... there were two but I think I know the one you mean, it was the bigger of the two. If the little chapel is the one I am thinking of then I used to go to the girls brigade there... LOL It was in the paper last week ... apparently it is to be converted into a house or something! Hi I have traced a relative to Kings Clifffe although I don't know her maiden name!! Her name was Elizabeth brn 1790 and she married Thomas Haines in Queniborough,Leicestershire in 1819. I know this from a cousin and census records however we can't find her birth name!!! It's very frustrating. So if anyone knows of a 'runaway' to Leicestershire please let me know. I'm sure Kings Cliffe is lovely so she must of been madly in love!! Trudi |
