I have 9 grandchildren from 3 of my kids. The other 2 aren't producing yet. 5 of them live in Exeter so I don't see them very often, maybe 3 or 4 times a year. 3 of them live in Birmingham but I have never seen them as their mother transferred her affections to her Stepdad and closed me out completely. Connor lives just around the corner and I see him most weekends. He is 3 and has super football skills. (Anyone from Pompey reading this?)

Well i thought i would just "bump" this back up, as there may be some new Grandparents since i first added the thread. Sorry to let it lapse a bit, as there are some very proud Grandparents here. Please add to the thread,as I, and I'm sure others, love to hear all the great stories. Cheers. Tony Oz

Any grandchildren I have (in the future) will be thousands of miles away in the USA, so I enjoy my sister's instead... they are great kids, Isobel (4) and Alex (2), twins expected July! I also have 30 kids (9-10) at the school where I do voluntary work - who all treat me like a grandma. So I am rich indeed..

Apologies to those that have heard this already - but it really tickled me. We haven't been able to have our grandaughter (aged 4) to sleep overnight for a while - I ws we have been decorating the room she generally sleeps in and the whole house seems to have been in turmoil as a result. I was on the phone to my daughter a couple of days ago- little madam in the backround wanting to know when she could 'Stay at Granny's'. I sent the message that we were still decorating but it would be soon. That sent her into an immediate tizzy ... 'I don't want Granny's house to be nice! - I like it HORRIBLE!!' Shan't be changing my name to Linda Barker then! LOL Magsxxx

Morning Everyone,Lovely reading all your news of your grandchildren.I have Oliver six,who many of you will remember I had trouble finding last summer after his mother moved, and with whom I have had no contact for five years since my son divorced her. Oliver was eventually found by a detective agancy, not cheap, but the best money I have ever spent, My other grandson Thomas ,born to my second son and his lovely wife after ten years , five miscarriages and one still birth is much loved. He is a real litle character and so funny. They too have moved further away recently and the journey is now 100 miles round trip but worth every penny on petrol. Rose

I dont have any grandchildren yet, but will become a granny in the autumn. My daughter at the grand old age of 28(according to my dad) is going to become a mum. We are all really looking forward to seeing the little one and getting very excited about it all. Have started knitting, as Jen hasnt a clue how to even start, and has no intentions of starting lol. I had a great Christmas and New Year with both my grandchildren. They came, they saw, they Conquered. Very shortly, i will be able to take my grandson fishing, as I brought him a small fishing rod for Christmas. Maybe he can teach me how to catch fish!!! Does anyone remember the "Tonka Truck". Not the ones you buy to-day, but one of the older ones " The Tonka Dumper" i think, was first introduced around 1964, and the first Tonka truck, i think around 1945. In 1965 i was given one by my Grandmother, and have kept it in its box, hoping to pass it on to my son if i was ever to be blessed with one. 5 daughters later, i guess it wasnt to be, and my girls were not interested in trucks. So i put it away again in its box, and i still have it. When my grandson is old enough to appreciate it, i hope to pass it on to him. My grandchildren keep me fit, and healthy. They sit on my back ( horse ride ) and we go round, and round, and round, the house, until i drop. I have learnt to hate one other four letter word. It's called "MORE" Happy Grandparenting. Tony Oz.

I had a wonderful day with my grandson on thursday.I took him to visit my mum, his great grandmother. For me to visit her by bus I have to leave at 8am to get the first bus then we change buses and have a 20 minute wait in between for the next one. And I finally get home at 8pm. He is only 4 years old but he was as good as gold all day. On the bus home he asked me 'are you my mum'?? I felt like saying that I might as well be!!!! LOL But I enjoyed having him with me all day especially at this time of year when they get so excited. I am now waiting for my 3rd grandchild to be born in January. Gloria

Hi Anthony What a lovely thread I am a very proud Grandmother, I have three grandchildren Maddison 18 years old Keesha 6 years old and Lachlain(Lochie) 4 years old. I don't see too much of Maddison as she lives too far away only see her when they come up to Perth, she lives down the south west of W. A.. Keesha nd Lochie I see regularly and they are the light of my life. I am an active grandma and love to do things with them like trampolining and playing soccer Keesha calls me Supergran lol. I get hugs and kisses all the time, during the school holidays I usually have them for a few days and even though it tires me out I am always happy to have them. We only have every other Christmas Day with the little ones as they have another Grandma that lives in the country. So to be fair to both Grandparents we are shared lol. It is our turn for Christmas this year and we are going to my son's Christmas Eve and will be there Christmas morning when the children open their presents. I am so looking forward to it. That's what Christmas is all about being with you loved ones and family. As usual hubby and I have spoilt them rotten but hey if Grandma and Grandad can't spoil who can? I get into trouble all the time from my son, he tends too forget that he was young once and had a Grandma (My Mum) that spoilt him rotten too. Anyway all you grandparents have a great Christmas and hope you can spend it with your beautiful Grandchildren Regards Jackie
