Nice thread, heres my story, my second husband lost contact with his 2 boys, because of their mother, then one day out of the blue one of them got in touch, we knew that he had a daughter, but we had never been lucky enough to see her, they came to stay with us for a long weekend in February this year, and found out that another one was due in June, our grand daughter Zoe (will be 2 on 13/12/04) is the bees knees, when Lee was born in June they came for another visit in July I booked the week off work so that I could take them out and about, as we live in Devon and they live in the midlands, we don't see enough of them, so when we do have time together we have to do what grand parents do best...Spoil them rotten..we love every minute of the time we have together. Grandchildren are wonderful! I have two children and five Grandchildren. Both families live about 2 hours drive from us. We see them as often as we can and have not long returned from a 3 week holiday with our daughter and family. Daughter has three sons, aged 12 & 8 months, almost 15 and 16 & 4 months, they are super boys although the eldest is a bit above giving cuddles these days. he will give a hug on request though. Son has a boy aged 8 and a girl aged 2 & 4 months. Childrens' names are Christopher, Jeremy, Gregory, James and Sophie (in age order). We spoil them all rotten, have the oldest three here for a week in the summer and look after all them if parents want a weekend away. We are going to spend Christmas with the youngest two this year which I am looking forward to. they all call me Nana and husband Grandad (Grandad can fix absolutely everything did you know?) According to Jeremy the 15 year old, Nana "is a 'one off'" said when he was following me on a walk and I was climbing over a 5 bar gate!! Ann Glos

I have 2 grandchildren, one (20 years old) I see everyday and the other (nearly 19 years old) I see most days. I know I am lucky that they live near. I wouldn't be without them, I try to do things for them and they do things for me. They are certainly not little angels, they are normal teenagers that have had their moments but have come through very nicely, and I am very proud of them. June

Anthony, I dont have any grandparents that are alive (I do miss them dearly). I dont have any children as I cant have them so I wont be a grandparent either. I do realise that I will be missing out on a great deal but I do have a nephew and niece that stay mith me and my husband every fortnight, and we love them to bits. You sound like a great grandad and I am sure your grandchildren love you loads.

Yes' Technology has some advantages, Sheila. I'm sure one day you will get to hold your Granchild in Oz, and I'm sure it will be a very special moment for you. Tony. Thanks for your kind words, Deb. Our Grankids are our future, lets hope we can make it a better place for them.

Tony - since you are in Aus you are closer in distance to my precious girl there - i have never held her yet and she is nearly a year old - my son and his wife show her my pic and she knows who i am - we speak on the phone and see each other on web-cam - thank goodness for technology!!!!! I have another little precious a few hundred miles away from me here - and she is a pure joy - shes 6 months old. I myself never had any grand parents and have felt as if I have missed so much because of that - my own children had my parents - both now gone - but they have been telling their babies all about them. I am waiting on the day I can give both my girls a hug together - will make this granny the happiest person alive

I bought my 3 year old grandaughter some mini jaffa cakes to take to her on a visit. She showed tham to my daughter who said 'Oooo bite sized!'. She then came to me to tell me what mummy had saidand I told her that I hoped that they would be at least two bite sized. She crammed the whole jaffa cake in her mouth so I said 'My what a big mouth you've got!' Though a shower of crumbs and chocolate she says giggling 'I GET IT FROM GRANDAD!' lol Magsxx

Thought i would like to start a Grandparents thread. I'm sure most of us, or at least a percentage of people on this site have Grandchildren. Or if you are about to become Grandparents, please join in. I never met my Grandparents, as both lines died before i was born. I have two beatiful Grandchildren, one of each, both 4 year olds. Dean anthony( Anthony, after yours truly.) and Britney nicole. My grandson is an ARIE'S, my Grandaughter a TAURUS. Unfortunatley, my wife never saw her grandkids, as she passed away a few years before they were born.( Breast cancer.) But i show them Photo's of her, and they ask question's, so this is good. And of course i spoil them rotten, as Grandparents do. With Christmas coming up soon, i will be playing Santa again for them, and these will be amongs't others, memories i will cherish forever. So how about you. What's your story, and how many have you. Tony Oz.
