why is it when i take my 5 kids out people look at us like we are scroungers/low lifes/ obviously claim off the state! people think its strange to have more then 3 kids. years ago, from looking through my tree no one had less than 5 some had 11 it just really upsets me,people think thats all i do. have kids! if only they knew! it certainly ain't easy

I've just had my 4th little girl and I agree with what you are saying. Why do people presume people who have large familes are scroungers? The other thing that really annoys me is that I always get are you going to try for a boy!! Surely the health of our children is more important. Liz

Hi i wouldnt worry what people think, i had 2 girls and ive now gained another 4 children as ive remarried and my husband had 2 children and another 2 that he bought up as his own, i know how you feel when we go out people look at us like that and some people you can hear moaning about it, but each and every one of our children are pretty good and as long as you know and the children know that thats not the case you shouldnt worry what others think..... just remember when you take the kids out hold your head up high.... kimxxx

Clare.... dont worry about it LOL I have had the same looks... when we all used to go out together we looked like a bloody army walking up the street. My hardest time though seemed to be when I was expecting my fourth... I was 22 with a 4yr old, 2yr old, 14 month old and another on the way. People looked at me as I was young and very obvioisly on my own walking along the street with buggy and tots. Course I was on my own... my other half was at bloody work!! It gets better when they get older though... we moved house just before number 6 came along and only number 5 had to attend the local primary school.... when number 6 was born some of the mums approached me at the school and said things like... awww now you have one of each (I've actually had 3 of each) or its just the two you have isnt it.... LOL Hang in there Clare it does get better. One of my closest friends is having her 5th and gets the same looks even though both her and her husband work. Shaz x

kim, i do. my kids are fairly well behaved(well out in public) the 3rd and 4th fight alot. people look and think our taxes pay for people like them they don't!!!they watch too much wife swap if they think that of me i work 40 hours a week and pay my taxes for the likes of people who can't be bothered to go to work!

Elizabeth.... the friend I just mentioned having number five has got four boys and gets the same things said to her.... do you know that when she had number 4 people actually said 'awwww never mind' when she said it was another boy!! Now whilst she would be over the moon if she had a daughter she'll be just the same if this one is a son. She isnt in it for the gender... she actually wants a large family! Shaz x

Clare Report 13 Feb 2005 22:03

shaz. we always wanted a big family. i'm stopping now though i think i have reached my physical and mental limit, if you know what i mean. as long as your kids are healthy who cares what sex they are!!

Clare, It's no mean feat bringing up kids, no matter how many you have!! My biggest thing is making sure they behave well when we're out, and making sure they look nice. When I was growing up, I knwe a couple of large families that were dirty, and I think that other people think large families are dirty and scroungers. It's quite amusing to watch people's faces when they see the kids piling out of the car though!! Paula x

i will go along with that clare it is not easy but the real bonus is when your kids have kids then the fun really begins it is fantastic to have them because you give them back at night. well sometimes you have them to stay but at the end of the day you give them back, i say well done clare your kids keep you young and your grandkids [when you get them] wil keep you even younger. good luck clare.

Thats half the trouble a lot of people watch wife swap and automaticaly think every one with more than 3 children are sitting at home all day, both myself and my husband work, but people think look at them all them kids sat in mcdonalds on the tax payers money and its just not true, makes you want to stand up and shout ive worked hard for this burger lol kimxxx

Wifey

Wifey Report 13 Feb 2005 22:08

Love it. Will have to get hubby to try it sometime. The other one is when you'ree out with 3 or 4, people say 'what a large family - bet that's hard work' I always reply ' Oh, that's only half of them (or 2 thirds, depending who's with me) the others are at.... Their faces are a picture

Clare Report 13 Feb 2005 22:08

kim, i have before. a women in the playground, she use to give me dirty looks and i could see her talking about me i ignored it, then one day she decided to speak, o she said i didin't realise you lived there.well she had it both barrels across the playground. gave myself a bit of a reputation then and everyone in my sons class speaks to me now..

I don't work, but hubby earns a wage good enough to keep us. To be honest, after paying for childcare it wouldn't be feesible for me to.

Clare

Clare Report 13 Feb 2005 22:12

paula, another one of hubbys tricks is when they ask, are they all yours? he says yes and we are having another 5, obviously we are scum by the expressions we get. talking of macdonalds, god it costs a bloody fortune now esp as the older 2 have a large meal, don't go there that often now
