Hi Bob, I got the chart OK. But with the Planets, surely they wander through the chart at differing times of the year.

Morning, Jim Yes they do..... That map was 'live' timed at 22: 48 you should see positions of two planets, Jupiter in Virgo, and Saturn, in Gemini,..thats the trouble with our climate, the skies are not clear enough, long enough.. Mars and Pluto are in the Sw... SORRY.....SE in the early morning. Bob Morning Mary, Anne

Bob, The star chart also shows the moon next to Cancer, but from my window I couldn't see the moon. although the position of Jupiter makes me think that could be it. It really would be a lot easier if I could have seen more of the sky.

CB >i< How will it effect the Virgo's on the 24th......Got me worried now as I'm one of THEM! I hope it's positive and not negative. Jo. X.

Right if you can bear to getup early........LOL( middle of the night, for me...)23rd feb...Station should rise aprox 05:13 but will be in shadow, till 05:18 then visible till it sets at 05:23 Will rise just north of due west, pass south of the moon and set about ESE.. and that appears to be OUR lot in the UK for a few weeks.........on the 24th feb, it wont be worth getting up for. you might get 3 minutes view as it sets 04:13-04:16....these times are aproximate as it depends on the location of the viewer. http://science.nasa.gov/Realtime/JPass/20/

I can see a bit more of the sky tonight and it looks as if the star to the west is Rigel as I can see Orion's belt above it to the left so the really bright one may well be Sirius after all.

Deb Report 22 Feb 2005 20:44

Jim Sirius is by far the brightest object in the sky at the moment however when Jupiter rises in the east at around 10pm it soon becames the brightest object. If you have a decent pair of binoculars you will be able to see the moons orbiting Jupiter, although you will not be able to see the red storm. Saturn is well placed in the sky now , it is to the right and slightly higher than the moon. Again with a good telescope or binoculars you will be able to see its moon Titan. The shadow of Io( one of the mooons of Jupiter) starts to cross the face of Jupiter at 06:31, but the end of the transit occurs after sunrise. Curtesy of my hubby , Deb X
