Andrea The travel agent asked if anyone had an offence and if so was I in court which was the same as your's ------- then advised I rang the American Embassy, and he said even if my court appearrance was 50 year's ago i would still need a visa. I think this had been tightend up since October 2004 and the travel agent's have only recently been telling people this when they book Son booked before last October and he wasn't told and he had a drink driving offence, he is chancing it. He also know's of lads who have just come back and they were ok and he say's half of them will have driving offences and been to court. Hubby and friend's we were going with decided not to chance it, so i am looking into it further tomorrow. Will let you know

Hi all Just caught this thread as it fell of the cliff!!!! Feeling down as we tried to book up for Las Vegas and as I have a seeding fine and appeared at the Magistrates court ---wait for it-------30 year's ago it seem's i may have to have a visa, so am truly down in the dumps. All to do with 9/11 and extra security anyway will be talking to American embassy again on Monday to clarify the facts before we postpone things, at least we hadn't booked already Feel a proper criminal.

Afternoon guys and gals! I'm feeling rather delicate today after the Stars in their Eyes thing last night. There was a good selection of acts including Barbara Streisand, Geoge Michael and Marti Pellow. But the best one's were my friend Ian as Elvis, 5 white girls doing the Jackson 5 and a rather rotund guy doing Justin Hawkins out of the Darkness! lol. The winner was Justin. I'm going to take it easy today as I've got to go out again tonight - this time to see a band called Ballroom Glitz. Think I might stick to orange juice! lol Jeanette x

Rain is washing the snow away here in Darlington. Going to catch up with the washing now---uurrgg Ann

Morning Peeps! Well the weather forecast last night said it was going to be the worst day yet for snow here but all we've got is sleety rain. It did make the school run much quicker this morning though. I'm just off to the gym to try and work off a few pounds (more like kill my self! lol) Philip Glad to hear your problems are getting sorted out Fred Come on then, I've been waiting fot your reply! lol Jeanette x

Morning all, Glad I came online this morning and spotted the new thread. Sorry to hear that Val has disappeared, hopefully she may rejoin us at some stage. I called in briefly a few days ago, saw that apparently there'd been yet another row & slanging match, and decided to close down. Nowadays, I have to be honest, I don't feel any incentive to visit the website, other than to call in on this thread, which is VERY IMPORTANT, and I won't neglect! Life is fairly hectic at present, hence not visiting as often as I'd really like. My laptop crashed big time last week, and I had to send it off to hospital for intensive care & major surgery. Hopefully it's not the hard disk that's gone, although I was able to back up most of my records. Looked more like an overheating proble, any way, due to get it back soon. DVD recorder also gone down the shute, and I had to have an almighty row with Comet, which I despise myself for, but seemed the only way to get any sense out of them. Bought it in early December, some functions worked OK, but others kept screwing up, so eventually I took it back to Comet under the 3 year warranty. They've had it for nearly four weeks at their service centre in Exeter, brought it back on Monday, installed a software upgrade which apparently was needed, and left, leaving me to retune it for TV reception, as the upgrade had over-written the existing settings. Not possible to do so, as the software, I think, is corrupted, had top call them out again. They won't replace the machine unless an engineer decides that it's uneconomical to repair, so I've had to rip a few ears off to get anything done at all! Was arranging to have broadband installed at home last week, but was advised at the last moment not to do so yet, as South Molton doesn't get broadband until July, and we need to have either broadband or an ISDN connection at home and in the shop, to be able to continue our nightly data downloads. Great pity, but we'll just have to be patient. Anyway, in the midst of all this technological mayhem(!), the good news is that we seem to have sold our Spanish apartment at long last! Hoping to complete in the next three weeks or so, then we'll be able to start sorting out our finances and repaying some of the loans we've had to make to keep the mortgage at that end going. Home, sweet home, that's what it's really all about! Must dash now and catch up on various other things. Hope you're all keeping well. Spot of snow the other day, not much down here, but more promised. Cheers, Philip

Hi Jeanette,, Pleased to see you are keeping the thread going i haven't had much input in recent weeks as i have been occupied with other things also i was so sick of all the nastiness and stupid threads that i just couldn't be bothered with it all but will do my best to pop on the thread when i can. I was so sorry to see valley had left and hope in the very near future she will change her mind as she is a very valued member of this site but i understand how she feels just now ,i am fed up giving people info and not getting replies so i don't bother anymore. I hope Dawn Fred Anne and Fred and Philip see this new thread and continue. Chrissy.

Hellooooo all you Northeasterlies and Sou'westers! I've spoken to Val today and biggest regret about withdrawing from the site is that this thread disappeared. She knows how we all enjoyed chatting on it so asked if it could be resurrected. Well here it is! And of course, even though Val isn't a member anymore, she will still be able to look in and see what we've all been getting up to. Over to you folks!
