Were you surprised when you met people that they were very different to what you had imagined or did they turn out to be just the sort of people you thought? Did you chat in the same way as you might on the boards or did you feel awkward? Was there anyone that you were really looking forward to meeting that you couldn’t get on with in real life? (NO naming names for this bit! lol) |

I’ve met a lot of people now and look forward to meeting more at the Bristol meet. I think my biggest surprise has been Andy Ooop North – I expected him to be older – a LOT older! Instead he’s a rather fanciable bloke (if I weren’t 7 stone overweight and 30 years too old! lol) with a lovely smile! Quiet…or was he just stunned? – Perhaps I shouldn’t have hugged him on Victoria Station! Lynda Pace is warm and funny and game for a laugh. Sometimes her more serious threads give you a different impression. Sheila Wray – Daft as a brush and has a Scots accent – she even chortles with an accent! I expected her to be serious. Otherwise they were much as I imagined them although not always in appearance. Too many to mention them all but…. Strump giggles and is warm and friendly Divvy Viv likewise – great to chat to but a total nutter! Gaynor from Stoke Poges – nothing gets in the way of her sense of humour. Little Nell – Sensible – but with a wicked glint in her eye! Lou from Leicestershire – Gentle and quite quiet Len of the Chilterns – IS a very interesting man to talk to. Pink Diana – Just as nice in real life. Strong on the outside – a bit more vulnerable underneath! (Armadillo!! – If no-one remembers the advert for Dime bar – that has just fallen very flat! LOL) And last but not least – Annie Yeomans – I think we’ll always be friends. We’re like two sides of the same coin. Just as I had expected. Glad I wasn't disappointed! |

Is it a bit like meeting a long-standing penfriend? Sometimes we are different people in the flesh - it's easy to be confident at a keyboard, in the safety of your own home..... Lily |

Mags Sensible! No one has ever called me sensible before! I assume its a compliment?:-) Most people were how I'd vaguely pictured them, I think, except Gaynor. For some reason I thought she would be a shortie like me, instead of tall and willowy! Lynda Pace is EXACTLY as I had pictured her. Grampa Jim was a little thinner than I'd imagined - 'Grampa' makes me picture someone a bit tubby. I've seen Donna/Strump at Wasps rugby club too - I was so pleased when it was her, I thought I would go up and say 'Hallo Donna' and a stranger would turn round and say 'I'm not Donna'! nell |

Oh, Mags, I see you've called Divvy Viv a 'nutter'. Not sure whether that is more, or less, complimentary than 'sensible'! You are awful! nell |

When I went to the Winchester meet( July 2004) and Isle of Wight (Sept. 2004) I hadn't 'talked' to everyone or been on these boards as much as I have now, so just went with a view to meeting people who shared an interest.... I didn't really know any of them, so had no particular expectation about them. All were great company. Instead of a couple of hours we were there ages and some long term friendships have developed between some people attending. |

Morning Nell! - Oooops! Sorry! - Yes sensible WAS supposed to be a compliment - perhaps that wasn't quite the right word? Just checked the thesaurus - 'Reasonable, realistic, logical, common sense, commonsensical, prudent, judicious, discreet, intelligent, sage, wise, sane, down to earth, matter of fact and well thought out'.... Which one would you like?? LOL Don't worry about me offending Viv!! - She calls me a LOT worse! Magsxx |

Where do I start?? All that I met at Webbs were lovely and friendly. My daughter, then 14, chatted for ages with Ann from Glos' husband. Some from that meet don't seem to be on the boards very much now although I know some have left. (Wasn't my fault honest!!) London.. Sooo many I can't remember all that were there but Mags was great, friendly, down to earth. Lynda, a great sense of humour. Yvette, lovely lady, chatty and friendly. Donna, Susie, Karen from Kent, Grampa Jim, Becs, Steedie, Diana, all great.oh what a cast list!! Difficult to say if people are as you imagine as with the photos page, not many come as a surprise!! Jacky :-) |

And I love you to Mags!!!! :-) Well Mags is Mags....tells everybody she's sane (and NOT!) Helen and I hit it off straight away.... we have people we know in common, also our jobs. Helen doesn't beat about the bush and makes me walk miles! Karen, Maz,Shelli,Lynda, Jo, Karen in Essex, Donna, Jan and Rick and all the others I've met are just as I imagined them. All very lovely people with a great sense of humour! I can't wait to meet the next lot including Annie. Viv |

Armadillo????? Armadillo???? :o) been called much more complimentary things Mags!!!!! :O) Actually in truth the animal that I always use to describe me is a HEDGEHOG.... prickly on the outside and squiggy in the middle..... But now I just might change that!! All the people I have met are just lovely, they all look differnet from what I imagined..... Andy Oop North.... I totally agree with you Mags..... :O) |
