Hi again Okay you would laugh because it was funny? So why did the one with the black eye do it? Think of the different ways you could get a black eye! Aileen |

Hi Lorraine, I'll help you out a bit here. If I told you that someone had put cling film over a person's toilet seat what would be your first reaction? Aileen |

Yes Grampa Jim, The second person was still waiting for a room. Captain Cabbage RN of HMS Slaughter woke one morning to find he had a black eye. Initially he considered court martialling the duty officer responsible, but instead he decided to put cling firm over the officer's toilet seat. Why? Aileen |

I am impressed ladies. 6 moves is the correct answer. Unfasten links a, b and c, and use them to link the remaining four lengths together. This will take six moves. Try this one if you are in the mood. A group of seven people arrived at a hotel late one night and asked for seven rooms. The hotelier actually only had six rooms available but said he would try and help. He put the first person in the first room and asked the second to wait a moment. Then he placed the third person in the second room, the forth in the third room and the fifth in the forth room. Finally he placed the sixth in the fifth room and went back for the seventh person, whom he placed in the sixth room Satisfied? |

Well, I'm no good at maths, and it's probably wrong, but I'd open links a, b, c, then use each one to link two adjoining strands = 6 moves? CB >|< |

The five pieces of chain need to be linked to form one continuous length. One method is to open link C (one move), fasten it to link D (two moves), open link F etc. This will take eight moves. Can you do it in less? o-o-o a b c o-o-o d e f o-o-o g h i o-o-o j k l o-o-o m n o Aileen |
