Hope little Rachel is home again soon, well and chattering away as usual. NHS DIRECT is useless - I was looking after my grandson a few months ago. He is 4 and woke in the night crying with earache. I didn't have anything to give him for the pain and rang NHSD and they were rubbish. I don't know how many different people I spoke to, all asking the same useless questions, my partner shouted out 'what do they want, his shoe size and colour of his eyes.' They offered nothing useful at all, just arranged an appointment for the Sunday morning at a drop-in centre, which I took, but I asked for a doctor to call in the meantime. No-one turned up and eventually Joe fell asleep on the sofa wrapped in blankets and I did the same in the recliner chair. Next morning, as is often the case with kids, he was as right as rain. I made a complaint to NHSD and got an apology but that did not help Joe's pain at the time. I dread getting older if that is all the help you get when you need advice and possible treatment at night and weekends. Liz from Norwich HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

Annie has just rung - Rachel has managed to keep down about 300 mls of fluid but her temp has shot up again. If her temp comes down she will be allowed home later today. She's not a clingy baby but she has been cuddling in to Annie - poor wee sausage must be frightened. But through it all she is still giving smiles to people - Annie herself is totally shattered but thanks everyone for their good wishes for her little precious - so do I xx
