£50 in 1993. It was in the window of Pronuptia bearing the title 'slightly damaged goods.' The cuffs were slightly ripped and it was a size 12. The sleeves were too long and I was a size 10 so I had the sleeves shortened and the waist taken in which cost me £16 by a local dressmaker and i got my wedding dress for £66! which was very nice indeed.

About £250 18 years ago. Used to put it on every year to see if I could still get into it. Given up that idea now as doubt I would. Bought it straight off the peg didn't need any altering. Did like another one but was an oyster colour and mum said colour didn't suit me

£120 ish from Wallis (size 8- so long ago, lol!) Ended up being ripped apart with a carving knife and thrown in dustbin the day I found out that himself had been playing happy families with my sister.

I wanted a white wedding in church but didn't fancy a veil. Saw a long crystal satin dress with separate hooded lace long coat over it, in a tiny shop in Southsea and bought it for £20 in 1971. As the dress was perfectly plain and sleeveless, I wore it a few times to formal evening events at my husband's work. Dad said the coat would come in useful to keep the birds off the blackcurrants,- but I've still got it!

In 1971, my Edwardian-style, ivory satin & Guipure lace wedding dress cost 22 guineas (£23.10 today) - a real bargain from a sale of evening & bridal wear in Dickins & Jones department store in London's Regent Street. (Available to view on the Photospage LoL) I can't remember how much I paid for the purple velvet suit and grey silk tunic I wore for my second wedding, probably at least double what the entire first wedding outfit cost, but then I was able to wear it quite a lot afterwards, which is more than can be said for the satin dress. I've still got that - it looks tiny compared to the tents I have to wear now! CB >|<

None of my family/friends know this, but my beautiful ivory 100% silk dress was bought off ebay 4 wks before my wedding day on 8th Jan 05, for £40!! It'd only been worn once and was in perfect condition.

My dress cost me £8 (in 1974) and the headdress was £16 ! My sister was my only bridesmaid and she wore one of my old evening dresses. We both managed to look presentable though !

Hi All, I can't remember how much we paid now but I do remember the shop owner in Middlesex Street, [Peticoat Lane] telling my Mum not to come back as he made no profit from us, haha! Mum having been born in Bethnal Green had bartered him down to half the price he was asking. I don't think you could do that today. It was 1962 & Mum made my dress from a picture in a magazine. The fabric for my dress was brocade with a silver thread through it & it had a waterfall train of embroidered organza. I married in the winter of 1963, the worst for 25yrs & my four bridesmaids wore velvet with velvet stoles to match. Everything was bought from the one shop, I don't think he did too badly out of us.
