I am very lucky to have my Big Sister 5 minutes up the road from me - she's my best friend. My Mum and Step Father are only about 30 mins drive away. My Dad, Step Mother, Brother & family are all about 100 miles away and I don't get to see nearly enough of them - thank God for Telephones and the Internet. |

We speak on the phone once a month sometimes more often and keep in touch through email and text! I have seen them every year since I've been here and miss them incredably!!!!! Jacquie xxx |

My daughter, 17 lives at home. My mum is 12,000 miles away in Wales. She is coming out for 6 weeks at Christmas though. She is quite the jetsetter, this will be her third trip out here and she is 77! |

Hi Maz, we have moved to France this year so about 600 miles from any of our families. Both sets parents & all brothers & sisters back in England. Our two sons both live abroad. Eldest in Norway & youngest in China. Would love to see more of them but talk to them all the time. Would never have left England if son's had settled there but they will never go back. Good thing about being here is we see the families for a week now, where as in England used to bump into them at parents sometimes & only generally spoke to them when something happened. Hilary x |

Hi, my four children still live at home since they are all still young, my parents live about 45 miles away and my sister and her family live in Southern Spain near Gibraltar, but not sure how far in miles. My husbands family all live about ten minutes drive away but dont really have much to do with them, but hopefully soon we will be living near my sister so wont have far to travel to see her. |

My parents are deceased and my only son lives at home with us. At present, he's at work in the King's Cross area of London, some 15 miles away from home. My Father died when I was a child, but my Mother always lived in Inner London since I left home - in Camberwell for the next 5 years, then in Chelsea for the next 24, whereas I lived in Hampshire for 3 years, Surrey for 24 years and Hertfordshire for the past 7 years. I never wanted to live near my Mother, as she was a very 'difficult' woman, and we didn't get on. CB >|< |

Only child (son) in Chicago, 8.5 hours on a plane from Manchester, not a trip I want to do too often (6'1' and can only afford Economy!). But e-mail keeps us in touch... Sister an hour away but she might as well be abroad, for the amount of time we see each other! Plenty of in-laws within 8 miles, but it's not the same. Interesting, reading your stories - those of you within half an hour of close family, be glad! Those in conflict - try to build bridges, before it's too late... Lily |

My 3 married children live within walking distance of my home. My brother just over the road, 1 sister in the next street to mine, another sister in walking distance. But my other brother lives in Dorset, which is a long way from suffolk, and my other sister lives about an hour and a half away, near Lowestoft. Shirley Ann. |
