My Favourite Books were: Famous Five Secret Seven One Hundred and One Dalmations Mistys Foal My Friend Flicka Black Beauty Secret Garden Marie

Pretty much the same as everyone else Secret Seven Famous Five Mallory Towers Little Women etc and the weird thing is my 8yr old has discovered Famous Five books now, been around most of the local charity shops /carboots looking for them. Star

Just same as Debby - 'Now We Are Six' and 'When We Were Very Young' I was raised on those two books and my children were too and I have seen my daughter reciting the same to her children. I am surprised at how many people dont know these great books. Later, Biggles (of course), Just William and Treasure Island.

Joe I can still hear my mum reading 'They're Changing Guards At Buckingham Palace'. I now have bought the books and will start my grandaughter on them shortly! They have the same pictures in and so brings back the memories! I've just introduced her to Cat in the Hat and she loved it! On the bookshelf waiting are Winnie The Pooh, full set of Beatrix Potter and Just So Stories. Debby

Enid Blyton books, from Noddy to Mallory Towers - and everything in between. My all time favourite book though is The Secret Garden and I reread it at least once a year! Whilst clearing out a cupboard at the weekend I found my daughter's boxed set of Mrs Pepperpot books. I will give them to my grandaughter (her daughter) tomorrow and I know she'll adore them. They are very dogeared now, but it just shows how loved they were. My elder son loved the Nancy Drew Mysteries and Stig of the Dump. Younger son's favourite was Tom's Midnight Garden and all the Roald Dahl books. Both daughters loved Teddy Robinson and My Naughty Little Sister books. Happy memories :o) Sue xx

Morning Andy, loved any of Enid Blytons, Milly Molly Mandy, and my lovely old nursery rhyme book, then moved on to the classics, What Katy Did and Little Women, there were lots, always had my head stuck in a book, with a bag of sweets present! :))

Don't think I could say one favourite but I loved The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe, Enid Blyton's Secret 7 & also the Magic Faraway tree stories. When I was a bit older (early teens)there was a book called My Brother In the Land and I can't remember the author at the minute but it was post nuclear war stuff and brilliantly written. Penelope Lively was a great author too.

Mine was Black Beauty and 101 Dalmations, but I remember that my aunt bought me the Bunty and Judy annual every year and I really looked forward to them.

Morning Andy, Looks like most of us were raised on Enid. I too loved the Faraway Tree, Wishing Chair, later it was Mallory Towers, Chalet School and Nancy Drew Mysteries. As well as the Famous Five and Secret Seven. Loved Ann of Green Gables and What Katy did. My favourite book was The Boy Next Door - Enid Blyton, not mine but my brothers, still have it on the shelf. Aah yes Gwynne, White Fang, read it and re-read it one advantage of being a teacher, you get to read the classics all over again. M x
