I agree with Rhyl and Towyn ! Had fond memories of Rhyl as a child then made the mistake of passing through there about 6 years ago - absolutely appalling - and as for Towyn - I have never seen so many corned beef legs with demin minis and white stilettos ! |

Despite having a gun pointed at my head in Riyadh in the late 70's by an over-zealous religious policeman for not covering my face (my dad - a teacher - of Islam gave him what for LOL) I would go back there, though the chances are slim. HOWEVER I will NEVER ever go back to Butlins in Bognor Regis - and I was only there for the day!! It was a 'single parents' trip - out of season, raining, half the 'entertainment' not available, me and my girls found the 'beach' (my, what big pebbles in Bognor!!!!) and spent 3 hours sat between two very close groynes wishing we were home. I also noticed the 'impenetrable' fence was set up so as not to allow the 'inmates' out LOL maggie |

have read all the replies with great interest. Have lived all over the world inthe past 20 years and try to find the best in everything, and the question that always bothers me is ' are people the product of their environment or is it the other way round?' Anyone have any ideas on that? brenda |

After reading some of these replies I'm kinda glad I don't like travelling. Guns, muggings, cockroaches, ex's - makes me shudder. I'll stick to good old England (well, most parts of it anyway LOL). |

Bev - you thought Poole was bleak, grey and urban? I live in Poole now and find it quite the opposite - where abouts did you go? We have beautiful beaches and wood/heathland on our doorstep - I couldn't bear to live anywhere too urban. You must have come on a bad day as I am sure we get more sun and less rain than most other places - especially compared to North Devon where it always seemed to be raining. lol I think Poole is worth a second look, I've lived in quite a few different places and this is by far one of the nicest. To a small hotel in Sligo, Eire. The bed linen was so damp and dirty that I stayed dressed and sat in a chair all night. Breakfast next morning was a disgusting fry-up, so I paid up (was outnumbered) and left as soon as poss. len |
