I have another view. My 'neighbour' from hell, is a so called christian and the way she behaves in life and then goes to church on a sunday I think is hypocritical. I believe you don't have to go to church to believe, you can do that anywhere. I hate the type of people who make themselves look good by going and preaching it at you. They are a minority and I am in no way saying everyone is doing that. But I know some who do. My husband was made to go every sunday by his mother. As soon as he was 18 he stopped going and never goes anymore. Just the usual Christening, Wedding , Funeral. So I suppose I think it's up to the individual. |

I think there's hope Harry - at least I believe there is. I think what this thread has shown is that there are many 'good' people out there, but that they don't all see a need to go to Church. It sounds like you miss your Faith? Sorry if I'm being too nosey. Kaye x |

Bit complex that Kaye - hope for the 'inner man or woman' is what I was angling for. Are the two not married.? Many thanks. Happy days. |

Harry I don't think you have to go along and be seen on a Sunday to have a faith. I believe in my own way and yes I know I could do a lot better than I do but with three children two of which are a big handful I would not enjoy it as would be sorting them out. Just because someone goes to church does not make them a better person than one that does. (my own opinion) As a child I was made to go until the age of 14 then parents said it was up to us if we went or not. I still went and went to youth club etc. When I got married got a special licence so I could get married in the church I went to as a teenager with a vicar that knew me. Have had my children christened and where we used to live took the children to church. I know people that go to church just to look good, surely thats not what its all about! |

Despite the fact that I do very much believe in God I don't go to Church - I don't feel that I need to label myself to be a good Christian. I was christened a Methodist but rarely went to Church as a young child, then my parents split and my Mother married a Methodist Minister - all of a sudden at the age of 11 I was expected to go to Church every Sunday and had religion well and truely rammed down my throat, needless to say I rebelled eventually. It wasn't until I was in my early 20's that I started to think about religion again and found a sort of faith - but it's not one that I feel I need to shout about or even share with other people. I agree that there are many good people out there who don't attend Church and many bad people who do! Kaye x |

Paul , As a non attendee, I pre-booked my funeral and put down for a church service even though I no longer go. Your answer and my own action make me feel a trifle uncomfortable. Are we just using the church for our own benefit? happy days |

I have nothing against the chuches and chapels around here. It's the unchristian behaviour of the members that has put me off. It's a shame more don't listen when they go. Gwynne |

Serious question. My excuse is that I was a born again christian for about 6 years; ran the Sunday School; my faith gradually ebbed away and sadly will not return. Do you have a reason.? I would be interested to hear what people have to say. (O)happy day........ |
