Sue In Yorkshire. Report 2 Oct 2005 15:32

If quite a few people want to come from Scotland/South Coast. As Elaine(Derbyshire Dancer)said Derbyshire is the most Central point. For a lot of people the train would be best but may need to change trains if it is going to be Brum. Sue

Thanks for letting us know Daisy. I shall still stick to my dates, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd and just hope that those that are going to the 'Trekkers do' Can make the Gaynor Bear relay celebrations on the Sunday as it is the anniversary of the start of the relay. Jenny xx

Hi Trekkers certainly do have something on for the 22nd but not 23rd and I see no reason not to be able to do both! I think that the 23rd is the right day to have a GB meet and so many people have been involved in this relay that it would be wonderful for as many as possible to come. Daisy

Oh well, it was only a suggestion. I don't really care where it is or when, and as I'm not going on the Sahara Trek, what Sahara Trekkers have planned doesn't concern me. I've contributed a bit of cash towards it, but that's all. Far more people have been involved in the Bear Relay than are going on the Trek, and the idea of this reunion being held centrally was to enable more of those people to attend. I certainly haven't participated in the Bear Relay solely for Gaynor's sake. I only met her once, but I admired her greatly and was very sad that she suffered so much and is no longer with us. I worked on the Relay for months for my own reasons - to raise awareness of the work of Cancer Research UK, which I've supported for many years because my father suffered from cancer for almost 3 years and died a terrible death. I had to help care for him when he was dying and no more could be done medically for him, despite being only 12 years old, and I'm sorry but that was my reason for doing what I've done with the Bear Relay. It had little to do with Gaynor herself. Yvette, Daisy, who is also going on the Sahara Trek, didn't mention anything about Trekkers having something planned for that weekend in April, and it was she and I who hatched the original idea. CB I certainly hope we will be back by then!! The problem is not that we are still away, but that we have something else important booked for that weekend. Yvette

According to Pink's Pages, the Sahara Trek takes place between 11th and 19th MARCH 2006. Unless the Trekkers join the Foreign Legion, they'll be back in the UK well before this proposed Gaynor Bear Relay anniversary meet on 23rd APRIL! CB >|<

Gaynor Bear will complete her UK tour, and that includes Scotland Jill, before doing the Sahara Trek. If GB has not completed her tour, then she will not do the Trek. This was made clear when it was first suggested that GB tries to go. We presumed when deciding on a date for the big meet up that the Sahara trekers would be back by then. Plese correct me if we were wrong. Jenny x

I would have thought that Birmingham or somewhere just outside would be a good idea. i would have thought that if people wanted to stay over then you'd probably get quite good rates if we 'took over somewhere' for the weekend. any suggestions as to where though? Jess x
