Golly, how can you narrow all those great songs down to one or two favourites? I will try, but will probably answer differently another day! The Beatles : The Fool on the Hill The Stones : Angie/ Brown Sugar The Kinks : Sunny Afternoon Bowie : Absolute Beginners/ Ziggy Stardust Queen : Don't Stop me Now/ The Show Must go on The Who: Boris the Spider (the kids love it too)/ My Generation (15 minute version on Live at Leeds) Robbie : Strong Liz x |

Hi Paul, Far too many to think about but these spring to mind straight away, trying to narrow it down is so difficult and I probably miss loads of fave songs and groups. The Beatles 'Revolution' The Rolling Stones 'Angie' The Kinks 'Dedicated Follower Of Fashion' David Bowie 'Ashes To Ashes' Queen 'Under Pressure' (Not much a Queen fan) Plus Small Faces 'Lazy Sunday Afternoon' The Who 'My Generation' The Moody Blues 'Question' Manfred Mann '5.4,3,2,1' Black Sabbath 'Paranoid' Deep Purple 'Smoke On The Water' Rod Stewart ''Mandolin Wind' (from way back Don't like him now though lol). now you're being picky David - to be honest it just came to me in a flash of inspiration and I hadn't a clue what title to give it. Nice to see Gwynne ignore the UK bias and add REM etc though :) more faves The Who: My generation, not a huge fan so took the obvious choice REM: big fan, can't narrow that down to one. At least one per album. The Jam: Saturdays kids Elvis Costello: Shipbuilding u2: where the streets have no name |

Paul You and Gwynne are taking liberties ;-) Gwynne listed 3 groups ie REM, Eagles and Hendrix none are British, now you are listing U2 and they are not British either :-( Cheers for mention Elvis Costello how can I forget 'Oliver's Army' ;-))) Pat x |

Pat, Well she started it Mandolin Wind is a great song, my favourite is Reason to Believe. I like his stuff from around that time too, shame he went downhill from the 80s onwards. Paul |

Yeah you're right Kevin it was only Jimi that was American, I always seem as American :-) Anyway doesn't matter really its great music that counts. Paul when I added 'Mandolin WInd' it was a toss up between that and 'Reason To Believe' :-) Yeah all downhill from 'Do you think I'm sexy' LOL The U2 song I love is 'Still haven't found what I'm looking for' and 'Pride in the name of love' Pat x |

Pat, for me it was a toss up between where the streets have no name and still haven't found... but to be honest I could probably list a dozen or so Paul |

Yeah Paul, Do you think U2 are going downhill? Seems they have been at the top a very long time, it happens to all the greats eventually. I'm not a big fan like some of their stuff. I know they command huge following and loyality. Pat x |

actually Pat no I don't - I think they had a few iffy albums in the 90s, but their last two have been very good IMHO, and had good commercial and critical success. Saw them in Manchester a few months ago, brilliant. |
