Joan of Arc(hives)

Joan of Arc(hives) Report 28 Oct 2005 22:42

Please don't be offended anyone, but I saw in the paper recently that there is a posssibility that people could be 'frozen' after they've died, then 'shattered' into tiny bits instead of cremation or burial. I quite fancy the thought of being freeze-dried, I don't fancy burial or cremation. What are your wishes? Joan

it's hopefully a long way off yet, so I haven't put too much thought into it. Frankly, since I'll be dead, I don't think I'll really care

They can do what they like, but I have a fancy for a 'burial' at sea - must be all my Naval ancestors!

I have written my instructions out and put them behind the clock....ashes...scattered half of them in Dublin and the olther half thrown into the Atlantic on the West Coast of Ireland. On the other hand, I have toyed with an Eco Pod in green....hmmmm you got me thinking, Our Joanie....lol BC

Lol Malc!!! It's just like what they do with coffee!!! I must admit the sending off to space appeals too, don't fancy the first bit though!! Mum used to say to me, 'Drop me out of a plane when I go' !! I did explain to her that the other people on the plane might have something to say about that!!! lmho :0) Joan

It's funny how we never talk about things like this, yet we are all gonna be there sometime, it's the one certain thing in life isn't it? Joan

ButtercupFields Report 28 Oct 2005 22:59

Joan...that is so true. My Mum discussed her death, cremation, in length at least ten years before she went, and made all the arrangements, including party! So by the time she died, the fear was not as great as it might have been. A very healthy attitude, I think. XX BC

Louise Report 28 Oct 2005 23:05

The older I get the less I believe in anything but nature, so I'd want no service of any kind. I'd like to be cremated because I used to cook for a living, so it seems quite apt to end up being over cooked!!I 'd like to be cremated then I'd like my two daughters to scatter my ashes on Luskentyre Beach, Isle of Harris, Outer Hebrides. This would make them travel to the area to see just how gorgeous it is there. My maiden name was Udall which originated from 'Yew Dale', so I'd like to be cremated and buried under a Yew tree in a deep dark wood as an alternative. I think it's sad being buried in a grave that gets forgotten about over time. I'd prefer people to remember me as a good, kind hearted person rather than as a sad memory in a cold church. I'm only 41 so I hope to clock the 100 yet. Louise
