I sound like a cross between Pauline Quirke and Pussycat Willum *sighs and longs for elocution lessons* There haven't been any great surprises when I've met people from GR or spoken to them on the phone...apart from one! LOL Now wouldn't you have thought that if someone was known by our friend Gaynor as 'My Cardiff Annie' - I should have expected a Welsh accent when she rang? - I didn't! LOL Dim Mags xx |

Sometimes I am recognised as a Norfolk 'girl' but have been mistaken for Australian too!! My dad was from Bucks and never really lost his accent, my mum was a Norfolk girl too, and I was brought up in Norwich so picked up mostly Norfolk with a bit of Dad's accent in there for good measure. You'll have to ask Jenny (MLL) Alan (RN) Yvette or Francis from Norwich, or Daisy - they have all heard my dulcet tones! |

Yorkshire, but I DON'T say 'eeh by gum' or anything like that! Some locals have asked me where I'm from so I take that as a complement ! Jacquie |

I've got a London accent but I learned a dozen or so long words which I drop into conversations hoping the other party doesn't know what they mean either, and it will make them overlook the accent. len |

I live in Scotland but don't actually have a Scottish accent. I suppose my accent would be a mixture of my mum's and dad's. My mum grew up in Essex and my dad is from Luton. I have been told I sound a lot like my mum though. Lucia :-) |

Oh Pat don't be racist now. For sure my accent may not be to everyone's taste so it's not, but you know it's just the crack so it is. Ha ha, it's the way I tell em. |

Having grown up in Sarf London with a Dad from Sunderland and a Mum from South Wales, and then being subjected to elocution lessons at school, I usually sound *bleeping* awful! High-pitched, nasal whine is probably the best description. However, one can enunciate one's vowel sounds with the best, when required, but it depends with whom one is conversing, where one is at the time - and whevver or not I can be 'bovvered'. I shall refrain from comment on those GR members I've met or spoken to on the phone. I'd prefer not to get lynched! LOL One thing I have learned from this Board is, if I ever venture to my Northern 'ancestral homeland', I'd better keep me trap well and truly SHUT! Festive Flutterby >*|*< . |
