im reading (again) Trace by patricia cornwell

Hi Dee I am reading 'The Glass Virgin' By Catherine Cookson I love all her books it reminds me so much of home in England I think I must have read all hers by now unless she has got some hidden ones I don't know about. I went to Library last week and was surprised to find one I hadn't read. I love all the 1800s and turn of the Century books, hate all the modern stuff Have a nice day Regards Jackie

I've just started on Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell

I have just finished 'Bird Song' by Sebastian Faulks. Very moving. I am now waiting for 'Holy Blood, Holy Grail' to be delivered. I'm not normally a religious person but after reading the 'De Vinci Code' by Dan Brown, I've become fascinated by the theory of the holy grail. Kate x

At a Christmas Fair last week I bought a couple of books and the woman said they were getting rid of lots of them as they had no where to store them and not many people had been buying. She gave me a whole box of books for a pound and after I had sorted out half a dozen I passed them to a friend. When she has taken her pick the rest will go to the boookshelf in our local S-field supermarket. They have secondhand books there at 25p each and the money goes to charity. Today I bought another £1 worth so have plenty stacked up ready. I will be one person who won't mind if we get snowed in this winter. Can never have enough books.

I have Secrets and A Lesser Evil to read, will keep me out of mischief. Dee xx

I have read `How You Live When You Die` by Desmond Shaw and have now passed it on to a friend . Very absorbing.

Anne and Don Have just finished the Bookseller of Kabul (excellent) and was thinking of reading Behind the Burqa next so thanks for the tip. Shall see if I can buy it on the station in the morning and start it on the way to the London Meet. Daisy

I am currently reading.... The Don Camillo Omnibus by Giovanni Guareschi. It contains three books...The Little World of Don Camillo....Don Camillo and the Prodigal Son.... Don Camillo's Dilemma. My local library used to have this book and I would read it on a regular basis but I've not seen it for several years. I picked up this copy for 20p at a local fete. I'm so chuffed!!! The stories are about a Catholic Priest in a small Italian village and his rival the Mayor who is a communist. The Lord speaks to Don Camillo from the high altar and all the stories are set just after the second world war. Very funny but thought provoking and nostalgic. A great read. Many years ago a series was televised and starred Brian Blessed (I think). Viv

Behind the Burqa (Our life in Afghanistan and How We Escaped to Freedom) by 'Sulima' and 'Hala' as told to Ratya Swift Yasgur It's the story of two girls brought up in Adghanistan before the days of the Taliban. The girls want education and freedom, but have many problems I'm off to the library to get some reading for Christmas. Anne

Not normally my kind of reading, but I must admit I could not put it down, it certainly has opened my eyes a lot. My Daughter has quite a few of her books, so going to borrow them when I go down for Christmas. Jenny xx

I'v got to read a lot of books. For English I have to read Beloved by Toni Morrison - it's about slavery in Ohio. I also have to swot up Catch-22. Recently, we had to read Sylvia Plath - I didn't really like it because it is so depressing - got an A for assesment though so chuffed about that ! lol I also have to read books for history. I took out some books about appeasement from Dundee uni so I still need to read them too. Lucia :-)
