If you receive a benefit you can claim a £60 rebate from British (or Scottish) Gas, though you must claim before 31 DEC 2005. EXTENDED NOW TO END OF JANUARY! They are giving out rebates of £60 on winter bills - it is paid in two instalments in November and February. The rebate is worth £40 for gas customers, £20 for electricity, i.e. £60 for customers getting both. Check to see if you’ve received a form with your gas bill or call 0845 603 2430 and press 1 for Winter Fuel Rebate. All you need is your account details and they’ll arrange it for you. It's for British (or Scottish) Gas customers only and you have to be on one of the following benefits: Vulnerable Customer - Eligible Benefits • Disability living allowance • Pension Credit • Attendance allowance • War disablement pension which includes either a mobility supplement or constant attendance allowance • Disablement pension which includes constant attendance allowance • Child tax credit where the relevant income is £14,600 or less • Working tax credit where the relevant income is £14,600 or less • Council tax benefit • Housing benefit • Income-based job seekers allowance • Income support • Carers Allowance • Severe Disability allowance Call centre holiday opening hours: Christmas Eve 9am-5pm Tues 27th Dec 9am-5pm Wed 28th Dec 8am-8pm Thurs 29th Dec 8am-8pm Fri 30th Dec 8am-8pm Sat 31st Dec 9am-5pm I have just rung and been awarded a rebate. I only heard about this a few hours ago so hope a few more of you can get it too but don't forget the deadline is TOMORROW! Ps This is not to be confused with the winter fuel allowance. Linda |

Fantastic. Where did you get that info from and how do you know you are giving your bank details to a genuine person? We have had so many hard sell calls lately Gloria |

Ive just told my mum about this after reading it here. I told her to ring the number on the back of her bill for infomation about it to see if it is genuine or not..............sounds a bit to good to be true.........especially since they have just put there prices up again. |

Gloria and Connie, if you go to Martin Lewis' website, he has put info on there about it. I phoned British Gas and it is ok. You don't give your bank details, you give your gas reference number. M. |

I love Martin Lewis site. It has saved me so much money this year. Even today, I rang up Credit Card company as they had bunged a £20 charge on my bill for late payment. I argued toss with them and they wiped the £20 charge off. Its only since he said they could do that that Ive had the nerve to try it on. |

Is this only for people who pay a bill - my friend has a card or key meter and meets the criteria, but I don't want to tell her about it then have her disappointed. Maz. XX |

Maz surely a call to them from her would answer that question. It's better for her to ask and not get it, than to not ask and find out later she could have got it???? |
