I guess the do gooders think he has changed!!!!! Personally I think that if someone is capable of what he did at that age then what is he capable of now that he is older!! I think it is disgusting that they have both been allowed the anonymity....I would want to know if he was with my daughter!! Bev x

I think most of us would be horrified if someone we loved got involved with someone who had committed such a terrible crime. But he served his sentence and was supposed to have been rehabilitated - it's the way our justice system works. I may be wrong but I'm sure I read that both boys came to understand the enormousness of their crime and showed remorse. Of course that doesn't take away from the crime they committed but if they have become fully rehabiliated and can live normal lives, isn't that a good thing? It also would mean that our system sometimes works.

Call me stupid but I just cannot get why they have to remain annonymous they committed a crime for goodness sake, it was bad enough that they were released, we have got Ronnie Biggs still in prison for robbing a train goodness knows how many years ago yet the killers of a child walk free where is has justice gone in the country? xxhugxx

I've just read another horrible story on another site. a man who murdered three young children 32 years ago is being got ready for release the mother is beside herself. He murdered them while babysitting when the baby of 9 months woke up crying. the others were toddlers. These sort of people should have the death sentance. Thats my view. Why should the poor mother of those children have to see him get out. I feel the same about the killers of James Bulger.

Hi Lindy It's really difficult isn't it? If I knew that someone who had come into my family had committed this crime, then I can't see how I would be able to accept them without worrying that they were a danger. But the point is that I'm not fit to judge whether either boys are rehabilitated and safe to lead anonymous new lives. The courts are though - they have all the information that we don't have and all the expert analysis to make an informed decision. If they think that the boys are no longer a danger to society what else can we do but trust that? What I really don't think is right is that the papers may take away from the decision of the law. The law may not always get things right but I'd rather they made the decisions than the papers. Ronnie Biggs is different. He was sentenced to a crime and didn't serve the sentence then so is serving it now.

Does not this show our system does not work. Such crime as committed by these two can never be forgiven and if the do gooders of this nation can bring in laws to allow gay people rights then there is something radically wrong when killers like these two are shielded from the public and allowed to live ordinary lives. What is this country coming to. No apologies for expressing my opinions. If the law can be made to the detriment of socirty one way then it should be made to work for the good of society in this instance and allowing such trash to foister a baby on an unsuspecting girl is outrageous. I stand by my statement. Rupert

Will try and cut this short. Last year there was a family here and the guy said he had been accused of being one of these killers (was in the local papers) as he had told someone he had been in gaol for fraud in Liverpool and people put 2 and 2 together and accused him. Now whether it was him or not no one will ever know but this person was NOT the sort of person who you would want to live next door to you. The things the neighbours told me about what went on at that house!!!!. The local police seemingly couldn’t go into his records they told someone only the highest of high could. They (the family) disappeared over night. One neighbour said if it wasn’t him then the likeness was uncanny even after all these years. They did have a little one and he beat his wife up one night and it was her that got took away in a police van???. There was certainly something strange going on. I would hate to think that I was living next door to someone like that and have no way of knowing. How do we know they are normal now? Germaine x

It is difficult becaue it was such an emotive crime. I tend to agree with david that I don't know enough to be able to judge if they have really been rehabilitated. Theyw ere young when they committed the crime so I suppose it is possible that they could have changed. As a Mother I find it very hard to accept I must admit, but we do put our trust in our lawyers and have to accept the rough with the smooth. However, I have never agreed with anonymity as I fell part of the punishment is people knowing who you are and what you have done. I also object to paying out for it. The problem here is the fact that we have nutters who would feel justified in taking the law into their own hands and that is why we have to have anonymity. Ann Glos
