When I was at school I found history and geography so boring!!! If only family history was introduced then I might have sat up and took note. If I were told about a link to Henry VIII I would have excelled in class. I do have a renowned ancestor but so far failed to get the connection but I hired a book from the library and read the story about him. Thomas the doughty Dickson from Douglas Lanarkshire. Was renowned for fighting on with his sword even after having his stomch slashed open. He draped his entrails over his arm and carried on fighting with his sword in his othr hand until his death!!! There was some kind of statue on his headstone in Douglas Cemetry but has long gone now. The book was by Sir Walter Scott 'Dangrous Castle' Anyway thats my claim to fame Gloria |
