Hey Lara - I was being kind to you - I was trying to tell Cilla you were in Qld in different parts at different times, couldn't remember exactly where though ! .. pmsl .. I envy you your trip though - even though we have done the same in the past, we never stayed in one place for a length of time, and usually just kept to the friends we were travelling with - apart from the odd peeps you at the shower/shop/laundry - like ships in the night. ..... Ahhhhhhhhhhhh .... them were the days. .. Makes me real nostalgic thinking about them. Ooops - I better get a move-on. .. Our local RSL club - well, Penrith - puts aside one sunday a month for all the birthday people - today being the August birthdays. We get a free glass champers, birthday cake, a keno ticket, free cup coffee, and they draw names out every half hour for $1000. .. Going down with two girlfriends, gotta get there early to get a table. Heard a band starting up out the front, looked out the window and saw soldiers, navy, bikies, schoolkids, banners, flags, bands - well only on a small scale, we are only a little town. .. I guess its remembering Long Tam? .. At least it will be all over down my part of town, and I can get the car out. .. The War memorial is up the other end of town. ,.. Oh how I remember that 'Welcome Home' march some 10 years after Vietnam finished. .. So very, very emotional. <sigh> See you all later. Jood |

Raggy Bear glad you are enjoying WA lovely beaches havn't they and I too adored Mandurah everything there lovely beach, nice movie theatre and resturants all on the board walk there and we stayed at the time share resort which was great too. Trifley most days just sitting around on here or yakking with peeps and I have put on more weight from all the happy hours nibbles nothing to do with the Brown Bros that goes with it LOL, see I don't get the car too often so have to make hay while the sun shines. How are you getting better every day I hope ? Fluffy don't worry bout birthday mate not having anymore anyway starting to feel old its carrying around this extra weight I filled out the application form for Biggest loser but don't know if I'm game enough they might kill me you have to prepared to be away for 5 months from your family and I think I would not be able to be away from Billie for that long PMSL. No seriously have to get it off for myself and for Cassies wedding want to look nice and can't possibly when 5 stone over weight Any way have to decide to start behaving but so sick of having to watch every mouthful, I can't even bare the thought of excercise like walking nearely kills me get so tired with the weight I am carrying and the Narcoleposy and we got a news letter with an article saying if you don't sleep then your metabilism will not work well I could have told them that they didn't need to spend thousands to find that out. OK going to do it you've got to help you girls, have a goal to be on my way to a thinner me by Mudgee meet up Funny thing when I saw Pete Cosgrove yesterday I could have said eh Pete both you and I have put on some weight since Deniliquin LOL as he has gained about three stone since leaving the Army . Cilla I said tell Jim to buy you another putor please on EBay we need to talk to you more often Does Jim play Golf , Mikes VV mate in Mackay had to come home from up here as he got crook and would have been upset being in Hospital for Vietnam Veterans day as he was president of the Mackay RSL till recently. Jood how could Cilla belong to Wattlers before you darling you were there for the planning of the Wattlers thread and one of the foundation members duffer. Ok what's this slinging off at me being out of VIC you who was never home more than three days at a time there for a while cheeky bugger gallivanting around all over the place . Cilla and I met on GB and another aussie thread and when it disappeared she joined us but probably thought you would have read her story on GB very romantic but sad as Jim and her were obviously meant to be together and should have had a happy marriage for last forty years. I met Cilla last year on the way home from here where she used to live and will see her on the way home from here too . Gwenda mate hope you get through work ok and rest when you get home . Lew bet you are glad to be home and is Wattie happy too ? Mary hope you are ok and not overdoing it and how is John have they found the problem yet ? Glad you like your new place now to enjoy all it has to offer eh . Laurie would you and Ray like to adopt me, big baby I know but very cute and potty trained , LOL bet your grandkids will be spoilt rotten when they arrive too . Morning All, the cold virus is hanging on nicely and my nose alternates between being completely blocked or flowing like the Murray River! Oh well, I'm sure it could be worse. At least I'm home in our beautiful warm house! Cilla, I must've missed that post, but I'd love to meet up. And, no, I didn't know the story of your daughter, but what a wonderful ending. Was your daughter born in Mudgee or Dubbo? Are you originally a Mudgee or Dubbo girl? Let me know the approximate dates you'll be here. Laurie, you big softy. I bet you and Ray had a ball shopping. I love buying for kids. Mmmm, re-phrase, I love buying! Hiya Jood. Sorry you've got the sniffles again. Hey, can you please email your latest wattle list. Ta G'day SuzyQ. How's me Idle mate? How are you feeling, Trifles? Bet you're getting better day by day. Thanks, all, for your well wishes. I'm going now to have some brekkie. Lew Lew xxx |

Hi All Sunday morning & the sun is shining here in Mackay still shorts & t-shirt weather no need for a heater I do feel sorry for those of you who are feeling the cold. Lara I to went to a cent sale last Sunday & like you won nothing but it was fun anyway. Our shed (garage ) is finally finished things take so long to be built up here we ordered it on 4/4/ & it was finished on Friday so now we are busy getting all the things out of the house that didn't belong in there,I have had a small compressor behind my lounge chair for a couple of months. How many wattlers live up this way as I think that we need a mini meet uo this way please let me know so we can plan something or a least meet up for coffee sometime. I don't know to many people up here yet as I am a bit shy. I don't get on here as much these days as I have to kick Jim off every now & again he has discovered e-bay & spends hours just looking But he has bought me some nice things though. Lew I don't know whether you saw my post a couple of weeks ago but we are hoping to be down in Mudgee in October as we are going to meet our daughter & her family in Dubbo they have booked to go to the Dubbo zoo for a couple of days then going to Mudgee she has never seen the hospital where she was born.We are really looking forward to it as it will be the first time that Jim & I will be with her & the grandkids as a family.I think you all know the story that she was adopted out at birth & I found her when she was 25 & Jim & I got back together last Christmas after 40 yrs apart. Anyway enough about that what i was getting at is that I would love to meet you when we come down & maybe have a cuppa. Will talk to you all later as I have more stuff to move out of the house into the shed. Love Cilla |

Yes, cold here too Gwenda - and I'm sniffly again - boo hoo!!! So many lovely messages to read this morning - yes I know it sounds funny about boiling up carcasses. .. I will refrain from mentioning my cooking activities from now on .. pmsl (suffice to say my daughter's pets don't mind, as I pick all the chicken off the bones for them, and they have quite a sizeable pile by the time I'm finished), so I certainly get my money's worth out of it. .. I was aware you could buy chicken stock. .. Will keep my eyes out. .... Errrm, that sounds funny, - I mean I will keep a lookout!!!! .. Considering the little amount of cooking I actually do, trust me to muck it up! Yvette & Lyn - there are stacks of Pear & Blackberry recipies on this site http://www.google*com*au/search?hl=en&q=Pear+and+blackberry+crumble&btnG=Google+Search&meta= Wow Lara - you sure lead an active social life up there in Qld??? Raggy - how nice to hear from you - enjoy your trip to Busselton (nice pie shop at Dunsborough I'm told) - Jude3 if you are reading this, take note. .. Raggy, I used to fish off the Mandurah Traffic Bridge as a kid, near where you bought your fish'n chips. .. Hope your leg gets better soon. Louise, thanks for bringing us up to date with your finds. .. Be great to hear from you again when you have actually met these new rellies. I hear whispers of mini meets on the GC, come on Sydney-ites, we better have some mini meets too!!! Have a great day all, Jood |

Yvette - I'm still around. Have been hunting for a recipe that I had recently for a Pear and blackberry crumble and I bought all the ingredients and now I can't for the life of me find the recipe. Am determined to get my hands on it before I go to bed. By the way I went to a great Lebanese outlet today at Roselands where they sold bulk nuts, flours spices etc etc, it was so cheap!. I read about it in a snippet in the SMH recently and as we were over at Roselands area buying lots of taps today we decided to pop into the outlet. Hey Yvette I worked out by your messages about spare tyres and exercising that you are a fitness instructor - am I right?? I didn't know that. You sure fit a lot into your days don't you? Ok back for more recipe hunting!! Good night all once again Lyn |

appears this might be the last look in if you are all in bed. My toes are starting to get a little chilly, but its the only way I can stay awake. possum is still out playing in his band, all the kiddies are tucked up, they are all keen to go to cricket training tomorrow. middle one has his army interview this week, so he's getting nervous. and truth be known both eldest 2 are in recovery mode from last night's social activities. youngest insomniac couldn't go the distance. Gwenda, you look at the blokes as much as me, i don't watch the footy, but golly they've got nice arms love to you all Yvette x |

Evening all . . . It's so nice to have you back Lew, get better soon - can't take a sickie when your retired! I think you should head north instead of south till the weather warms up a bit. Would dry up the snuffles good and propper for you. Donna, our boys wore out several fishing rods before they started high school - they loved it. My Dad was a marvel, he taught them to sit still and be quiet so they didn't scare the fish away - so how could we resist an outing like that !!! Anyway Carlton will get his first fishing rod, along with a multitude of things that just jumped into the shopping - Ray is a pushover with kids. Carltons big sister Chloe will do alright for her brothers birthday party too. We brought her a braclet when she was born, and the idea was we would buy her a charm for it every year - she is 4 - and number 9 charm is among her loot for tomorrow . . . I think maybe we are both pushovers. (Well we are proxy grandparents as real ones are in Indonesia) Trifley, would love to meet for a Wattlers lunch somewhere - let me know where and when and I will be there! I will leave here on 27th - so should be home on 28th, driving up gives me an opportunity to go do a clean up at Mum & Dad's grave in Tuncurry. Will stop for the night with friends in Kempsey. Well the eyes are droopy so best get some sleep - Sleep well . . . . night Pam ~~~~ cheers luv Laurie |

Evening Wattlers, Just had my night time tablet - spose to be an hour before going to bed - well might be that by the time I finish this - just hope I can sleep past 2.30 and 3.30 without my nose dripping again. Has eased off tho so back to work tomorrow - have my strepsils if I get a tickle in the throat. Can defo recommend Southern Comfort - well the slug I put in the glass certainly fixed something - was quite lightheaded for a while - pppppp Lew - glad you're back home - nothing worse than being unwell in someone else's home - they're obviously acclimatised to the cold not to use heating - figure if you've got you might as well use and hang the cost. Hope you're on the mend soon. Fluffy Duck - hope you feel better soon too Lara - glad you enjoyed your day but poor Billie - we had a german shepherd that was terrified of fireworks and the stupid kid 2 doors away with his cap gun - now we have a scaredy cat that got a fright when I blew my nose tonight - lol Donna - hope things work out for your son at his new school - maybe a change of environment was all he needed. Tony - my first thought when I read about the phone in the loo was oh no hope you've told Sarah that the calls have to be paid for - otherwise it might have been cheaper to win the phone calls and pay for the accommodation - haha On a trip to Sydney Daughter stayed at the Intercontinental and had to take a photo of the bathroom cos there was a phone in there too - pppp Raggy Bear - hope your legs improve - sounds like you're having a good time even so. Enjoy the footy if you get to a game - there's more scoring than in soccer - hope you can cope with all the goals not to mention the behinds - and that's just the players in their tight shorts - ooooohhhh - just ask Tassie about footy players in tight shorts - pmsl Jood - are you sure you turned the pressure cooker off - you know you can buy chicken soup in a can - just need a can opener if it's not one of those with a ring pull - lol Better make a move and get to bed ~~~~nitey nite~~~~ catch up tomorrow Gwenda |

Poor Jood - you are never going to live down the chicken carcass fiasco are you? Never mind, don't let that deter you from boiling your chicken carcasses (or frames as they call them nowadays in all the chicken shops, for heavens sake, even that has to be politically correct). If it makes you feel better Jood, I always boil up chicken carcasses as apart from the fact that I can't bear to waste a thing - being a child of the 40's era etc, they also make superb stock for all sorts of dishes. We had a pressure cooker for years until OH boiled ours dry and buckled the base, it never sat on the stove properly after that! I keep looking at buying a new one but I think I'd need to take out a 2nd mortgage the price they want for them now! Raggy Bear - I hope your legs improve, I went back to UK 2 yrs ago and had a dreadful time with my legs and ended up having to go to Medical centre for attention. I now have a special cushion for my feet/legs to exercise whilst on the plane. Trifley - thanks for your phone details and photo re: Broadbeach next month, I'm looking forward to meeting you. Well OH has half packed his case ready for take off tomorrow, (then again perhaps that is all he intends taking) however he then decided to go out to soccer with son tonight, so don't think there will be any more additions to the case before tomorrow morning. Will say goodnight to all you wattlers as I think most of you are in zzzzzzzzz land by now anyway. Talk to you tomorrow. Lyn |
