Hi Shaz, Hi all, haven't been on to say hello this week, I've been so busy but thought I better give you an update. As some know I found my dad's family last week. Since then I have spoken to my aunts sister almost every day to build up some info. Lucky me spoke to my cousin yesterday, she is going to photo copy the first page of the family bible where they keep a history of the family. have found out I am part aboriginal (not that you can tell) and my g grandparents were so well respected they were amongst the first aboriginals to be given their own settlement of land. I even have a half brother she is going to contact to see if he wants to get to know me, he was born ten years earlier. Shaz- thanks for letting me have a natter on the phone last week. I thought I would explode if I didn't talk to someone know cares about family history. Jood- what a terrible day it is here in the mountains AND I have roadworks going on out front of our house. Trifley- just saw Lauries thread. Sooo glad you have had some good news. I have been sending positive thoughts for you. Laurie- congrats. nothing better then a new baby to love. Congrats. to the new parnets too Louisa x |

Pink, pink, pink it is. Congrats to Mum, Dad and of course the greatest Aunty ever :) We had some drizzle yesterday and some real rain overnight. It's a cloudy day today. I've got all day free so going to try and do some FH. I'll just spread out over the floor :) Tomorrow is our 34th Wedding anniversary and eldest son and DIL are cooking dinner at their place for the whole family. It will also be a farewell dinner for my youngest D and SIL who are heading overseas to Birmingham for a month. They have been invited by a Church there to come and help in a youth project. Big commitment for them as they have had to raise their own fares and also close their cleaning business for a month. Their accommodation and food is taken care of though. ~~~~~~~~~ later 'ron Vonny |

Anna, when I used to traipse off to do family history on microfiche - my eyes got sore too, so I bought some A4 coloured paper (sort of like cellophane, but stiff - don't know what you call it). .. I placed this on the screen off the microffiche, and it was very easy to read, and less strain on the eyes. .. Might be worth trying. .. I hope you know the sort of stuff I mean, like perspex, but bendable and see through. Jood |

Morning Wattlers Ooooh Laurie - a pink baby. How wonderful. Congratulations to all concerned! Gosh Cilla - the snakes are out early - I think of summer when I think of snakes but I guess they've been disturbed by the cane burning. I had a very frustrating day at the State Library and the National Archives yesterday - didn't find a thing but at least I have all the possibilities to cross off my list! I felt quite sick after spending hours on the fische reader - my head was spinning! Had to take a break and drink some coffee! I left at 6.30am yesterday morning and didn't get home until 6.45pm last night so it was a full on day and I was well and truly pooped. Katherine went back to school yesterday - she says that half of the Year 11's at her school were away with the virus on Wednesday! Not good! Donna - sorry to hear that you still have problems. You're going to have to resort to some 'tough love' which is hard on everyone but I don't know what the alternative is. Have visitors coming for the weekend so I'd best do a bit of spit and polish and a spot of baking! Have a good day all XX Anna PS Waves to Ducky Fluff - you popped in under me! PPS - Good luck with your packing Devley - it will be worth it when you get into the new house PPS - Congratulations Jill on you win! Shame it has to go into the driving lessons - couldn't you spend a bit of mad money on yourself? |

Morning all Hi Laurie I will be here on my own for a day or 2 next week to & will not be going out the back unless I really have to. We have to expect snakes here at the moment as the farmers are cutting the sugar cane all around us but I am not taking any chances also next door to us have old cars & rubbish in their backyard which they are now going to clean up so we don't know how many are hiding in all that I will make sure Jim is home when they start moving everything. Anyway another beautiful day here in Mackay. Better go & put the washing out before snakes wake up Catch you all later Luv Cilla |

G'Morning Wattlers, Well it drizzled all night here and I've been to fitness, mad girls there wearing yellow and daffy's at 6am ! I dreamed about the car accident over again last night, isn't it weird how you see these kinds of things happen in slow motion. I don't expect I'll hear any more about it. Vonny I can see the floor of my spare room now, all washing folded and about twenty seven shopping bags disposed of, you know the kind, too substantial to put in the rubbish but what else to do with? - big bag to go in the Lifeline bin too - will go now and put it in the car. OK, kettles boiled, got to wake up sleepyhead, I've got time to do a cooked breakfast if she wants today - have a great day everyone. ~~~~ Hz |

Tony I think Gwenda lived in the ACT at some stage - could be wrong. Or wassit Heather? There is a TA Denbow still living there, spelling sllightly different. Laurie would Kingswood have newspapers of the day from West Australia (in 1959) or would one have to traipse into the library in town? Jood |

Morning all.. Been up since 5am to get our visitors off to the airport.. Got them breakfast and the lovely son took them over to catch their plane..which goes at 9am..Enjoyed their visit but was sorry they were here for such a short time and not enough time to do much other than local things..We should be organised more the next time as this time we had to use the patio table for meals and we only had 2 nice chairs to sit in as the lounge hasent arrives yet. so we had to use the patio chairs for that also..still we enjoyed ourselves.. Have decided to try and have a swim in the pool today.. Will wait and see if I get there as we have a lot happening with peeps comming and going..Visitors for morning tea and the handy man is comming to put my drier up on the wall for me..So nice to have a handy man around the place..LOL Will go back to bed I think as it is still only 6.30am so see ya later.. Love Mary xxx |

Wakey wakey For centuries, Hindu women have worn a red spot on their foreheads. We in the west have always naively thought that it had something to do with their religion. This has recently been revealed by the Indian Embassy in Ottawa. When one of these women gets married, she brings with her, a dowry. On her wedding night, the husband scratches off the red spot to see if he has won a convenience store, a gas station, a doughnut shop or a motel in Canada. If he gets a 'SORRY, NO WINNER', he is destined to a lifetime of driving taxi. Jood |

Cor blimey you lot - it has taken me ages to read todays Waffle . . . Cilla, had one of those things do the same thing in my house, saw it come in the laundry under the washing machine - yelled at Glen to come help me and lost sight of the darn thing. so I went to walk thru our bedroom to have a look from other side of laundry (two way entry into our loo) and here was the thing in my room. Glen and I are standing on my bed me with phone ringing Ray in Jakarta going off at him for not being home to deal with it and Glen has the shovel . . . snake ended up in little pieces, Ray got the sore ear, I still keep the eyes peeled when I think of it. OOOhhh just had a thought - I am going to be home on my own for a few days next week . . . . . better make sure the shovel is inside !!! Yvette, you mentioned the Reading Room at the Archives a few days ago - I am a frequent visitor. I am on the volunteer list for transcribing out at Kingswood. I have actually had three visits out there in the past week - always something new to find out about. I spend a lot of time looking through their collection of book - anything I am interested in having a good read of I order in at the local library. A lot of peeps who have done their FH have lodged copies of their research in the book collection, its very interesting to read what others have done - then I pester the girls (and John) that work there for info on how to find out the stuff that others have in their research. I snuck out there again today for three hours because I found out about a second way to access info on immigration (Vonny have more Burton news for you . . . Lara your Smedleys gave me some more info today toooo !!!) TLR asked me tonight if I had changed my mind yet as to what I thought the ultimate job was . . . I have always said the best job on the planet would have to be Getaway or the likes! He wanted to know if I now thought a job at the Archives was better seeing as how I spend so much time out there. NNNAAAHHHH Still a travel reporter !!!! (Ray actually wants to go out one Sat when we get home to have a look and compare what we have here to what we saw in Kew - think he is expecting too much !!!) I want to try and get some of my notes typed up before I hit the hay so best get oorrffa er' . . . Night all sleep tight luv Laurie |
