My grandma died of consumption in 1922 she was 36. My dad was about 4 and his youngest brother was only 2 It was a terrible disease. I can remember being inoculated against it when I was 15. Eventually al the sanitariums were closed down in England but were opened up again when the Pakistanis and Indians started to come in in the 50's.. Tb is still a killer in some third world countries. Afternoon Wattlers. Jill, yes I agree the Phantom was better in Sydney than London. and yes we went to Leigh-on-Sea the last visit to UK and brought the cockles, whelks from the seafood shop there, we love the cockles but I am not a lover of the whelks but hubby does as well as jellies eels., we went to the end of Southend pier on the train. Yes love Rock Salmon was always a favourite of mine. Shazz hope your feeling better, if you have divertuticulitas(not sure on spelling) my mother had it a few years back it is a blockage of the pouches of the bowel so the doc said anyway eat more fibre is what they said lol, but it is very painful. Who asked about a birthday tomorrow I think it may be our Jood? Tassie. Glad your nan's surprise went well, you were worried about remembering all our names on the 12th I am sure most will get a name tag for the day????? Time to get the rabbit in before the sun goes down now don't laugh. Cheers Sandra in the Gong

Well, so many nice peeps to say hello to, Hi Nutter, early morning there for you, I often read your threads, sorry I can't help with your question only arrived here myself '74. thats 1974 you horrible lot I'm not that old, take care of yourself, you have mentioned that you have health probs. Lew, one of my past rellies was a basket weaver, do you think it's in the blood? Hi Lorraine, good name, my eldest girl shares the same name and I too have a sis in WA she lives near Freeo, she's also a member but still a bit new. I've been out to the wineries in Baldivis too,not a bad drop. A friends daughter aged 4yrs has just been diagnosed with TB, I think it is called the dorment type or non active, sorry can't quiet remember, but she still has to take some very strong medicine for the next nine months, her and the other twentyfour kiddies in her preschool, they all tested positive after being in contact with a teacher who was tested positive to active TB. bit of a worry eh? her Dad said the clinic where he had to take her was very crowded, this is in Brisbane. Luv Jillx

Mary - just doing what I normally do on a Tuesday, going out with a neighbourhood centre group (NOT seniors) - in fact its 35 minutes drive away. .. They are going to the Cordeaux dam for a bbq - I dont even know where the dam is. .. Tuesday night I'm going to my normal class, Wednesday out to lunch with friends over from Perth, and my daughters place for dinner tomorrow night. .. Very low key. Jood

Evenin' all Shaz...yoo hoo ...how did you go at the Drs? Hi SuzyQ....I borrow my little nieces...3,5 & 7, when I want a kid fix but it's not the same as one of your own. When I was in hospital I was right next to maternity. Just seeing these grans with their new grandchildren was amazing. I guess it would be the ideal thing, being the base of a family history tree of your own. Another peep from WA .....the Wattle Club....from sea to shining sea. Just saw Ernie Dingo's ad for the census. it's very clever, someone has put a lot of thought into it. In 100 years our gt grandkids will have it easier to research than we do. Big ~~~~~~waves to everyone. love Trifley X

Morning all - rise'n shine. .. Cold here in the blue mountains - was cold last night too, but its only 5.45am, might get warmer. Thanks Raggy & Trifley :) .. I got my 'old grey mare' wishes after all .. pmsl Shaz, hope you are ok and recovered from your sickness. Pam - where are you, Fluffy? .. Havent seen you for a few days. .. I can't recall you going away, or not feeling well, or having puter trubs. Lew, many many thanks for spending a whole day and probably half the night deciphering an old Will of Laurie's and my ancestor. . . It's very much appreciated. Had a sleepless night from 3am .. grrrrrrrrrrrr .. I hate that. .. Might hop back into bed and see if I can get at least another hours sleep. Laurie, hope you are ok too. .. Thinking of you. Cheers Jood
