Tony - the pie and eel floater must be where the famous (????) Adelaide Pie Floater comes from minus the eels - yukkkkkk Always thought the meat pie with mushy green peas was bad enough but eel - ugggghhh doesn't bear thinking about. On the subject of painting I know you're not into portraits but did you watch the Rolf Harris show on ABC Tuesday night when 3 artists painted Parky - very interesting - each doing different styles - didn't like Parky's choice but he has to live with it not me - lol |

Nup..not this time. Never mind Anna,i didnt buy the right ticket either..last time. Gwenda. Yes mate, i did watch that program with Rolf Harris. I liked the other ladies Painting. The bloke ( with the long hair ) painting was also good, but a bit to much like a Photo, i thought. The one that Park'o picked.........well........Ummm...each to his own, i guess!!! ...Very different........but not really my choice. Sandra. Yes, i had the Pie & mash, and Barb had Pie & mash also, as we occasionally have that at home. Meat Pie, Mashed tatties, and Peas, but think i will pass on the eel......lol As a 6 year old i remember my dad would take me down to the river ( Yarra ) in Richmond, and catch eel's. He used to take them home and put them in a long steel pipe and cook them on an open fire.( smoked eel ). Other things i remember, with my dad and his mates back in the early 50s, were how we used to go Roo shooting ( illegal now ) and he would cut the tail off skippy...and my job was to peel off the skin, and my dad made Kangaroo tail soup, at the camp. They were great days. Tony Oz..:>))) |

As predicted, the NO vote won in Toowoomba's vote on whether to supplement our dam water with recycled water. It will be interesting to see which path we go now. Extra bores around the city will help in the immediate future but unless we get rain, the underground water supply will not support unlimited bores. I'm hoping the council will make it easier for established homes like ours to put in rainwater tanks. It is a council regulation that all new homes have a rainwater tank. However, it can only be plumbed to a toilet - not to the kitchen - and can also be used for outdoor purposes. Strangely enough, until recently, it was illegal here to have a rain water tank! We have tried to get quotes for installing tanks but all the tank manufacturers, plumbers, earth movers etc are not even interested in quoting - they are flat out with new homes. And we have to get council approval for the siting of any tank we put in which costs about $400 just for the council aapproval. Now that the recycling has been rejected, they may get their act together to make it easier for people to get rain water tanks. To put in an inground tank with a large capacity which is the way we want to go, we are looking at about $8000. This includes council fees, concrete tank, earthworks, plumbing, changes to downpipes on our gutters, a pump to pump the water. And we still can't use it in the kitchen. And it would have to go in our front garden as that is the only practical place to put it! My rant for the night. Sleep tight everyone XX Anna |

Trifley broke the rules . . . . No negatives on the Wattlers pages !!!!!! You will get that trip to Egypt sweet lady . . . (but bugger !!! no bookings this week) Agree with you re the three artists impressions Tony, the other womans would have been my choice too! Re the shower glass ladies . . . put an oats bathroom glove in the shower and wipe it off every day, if your really lucky (and you give instruction really often) the OH will use it occasionally too !!! For the really hard work jobs - use Sugar soap!! Eucalyptus oil is another good skunge breaker upper !!!!! (been told tea tree does a good job too but never tried it) Gee Anna thats a bit steep . . . the Beaudesert council gives a rebate in our area (SuzyQ I think that is only in areas where there is a mains pressure water supply) to anyone who puts on a rain water tank! It used to be illegal, but we put one on anyway and pretended it wasn't there. We have to get a new one when we go back up home as we found some holes last trip. (Sounds like we should order it now so we have it when we go up in Sept) Bad news about the vote! Our 30 year old today son, Paul, has just rung us up to tell us of his lovely day at a Day Spa on the coast and his swim with the dopohins . . . I think I like this new girlfirend, she has spoilt him rotten! (he deserves it) He will use his gift from Glen & his mummy & daddy on Wednesday - a V8 day!! coffee time luv Laurie |

Hi Laurie I am remiss in that I didn't acknowledge that our council does give a rebate - the tank has to be a certain size and plumbed to a toilet to qualify - and the rebate just covers the cost of their siting approval! :>) Anna |

Hi all, Cinders is home :) Was a great time and we enjoyed ourselves, even did some dancing - which we will pay for tomorrow I expect!! Ooooo lots more products to try on the glass :) I like experimenting. Thanks all. Anna, used to be illegal to have a water tank in Canberra too!! When we drew up the plans for the extension, we added in two tanks, the largest we were allowed. There was a rebate of about $400. They are just for the garden at the moment but eventually we will plumb them into the toilets and laundry. We had to pay for two sets of plumbing anyway - mains and 'grey water' for the entire house as the rules had changed by the time our extension was built. All new houses now have to have the two sets of plumbing even if it is not used!! (including if you are just extending). off to beddy-byes after checking on the word-threads. ~~~~~~ to Rebs, hugs to Laurie and Trifley Blessings to all, Vonny |

Sorry Laurie....I should have said...'I guess I don't go to Egypt THIS week'...lol. Anna...sorry to hear the 'NO' vote won. I think they'll be sorry, but time will tell. Do they realise that whatever they do now wont attract Federal funding? When we lived on Lord Howe Island we had 2 tanks that were hooked up by a Davey pump to the house. This provided all the water for our use....drinking, showering, toilet...everything. It was plain, untreated rain water like millions of people use every day. After a particularly long dry spell one of the tanks was almost empty so we decided to give it a bit of a clean. Yuck! There was a lot of scunge on the bottom of the tank but we did manage to clean it up a bit. Still any water is better than no water at all. I think it's past my bed time so i'll be off now. Sleep well my friends. love Trifley X |

Good Morning Wattlers Well we had a lovely night last night for Nan. Should have seen her face when she walked in the room with all the relies there to meet her. She thought she was just going to the pub with her Daughter and hubby from next door and another of her daughters that came from somewhere outside Sydney about 5 hours could be Bobadah or something like that I remember she said she goes out through Parks and Bogan Gate. Her daughter also lives in Sydney but I didnt get to find out exactly where as my girls dont know Im going yet. There was even this Aunty's former husband there, which was a bit of a shock as Nan didnt think much of him, he is Italian and like a few Italians loves his drink, women (Not his wife) etc etc, and Nan is dead against drink and he also didnt treat his wife or children very well, they was made to work in his shop every spare hour while he could galavant around his female friends places. Anyway enough rambling, it was still a great night, and I had crumbed scallops and cheesecake with raspberry syrup yummy. Now I am waithing for youngest girl Dannielle to get ready as the both of us are walking over to Mums and going out with them to Nans for the day. It is good as it was forecast rain but none about yet. David had the trips too the toilet all night, something didnt agree with him and Tamika is going off to the cinemas with her friend. Anna bad news about the vote, hopefully they will do something about the tanks, but you still need rain for them, hopefully everything will work out, as Katherine said its her generation and beyond it is going to affect more. Laurie hope you are holding up ok with everything thats going on with your friend Denny and her family, you sound like one strong lady to help through this hard time. At least a decision has been made and it sounds like Denny's wishes were taken into consideration. OK so we aint rich with the Wattlelotto and David and my tickets were no good neither so its wait another week :-( Well must go as Dannielle is nearly ready. Catch you tonight if I'm not all talked out lol. 13 Sleeps, Cheers Sue |
