Why do we presume that because he has a lot of kids and in a council house that the tax payer is paying for it and not himself, and if he is on benefits and they are paying, why do we presume that he has always been on benefits, maybe the guy has worked all his life and has only recently gone on benefits and/or will get a job in the near future. I agree, it is weird living with his wife and his girlfriend at the same time, and I agree its highly unlikely he sleeps in a tent or does have a job but do we have to judge so harshly when we dont know all the facts. Marie ( who also has a lot of kids and lives in a council house) will I get judged the same? |

My daughter got a DVT due to birth control hormones, she tried everything the doctor allowed and nearly died, her fifth son is due in june this year, her eldest son is 15 and 6 foot tall, she is not asking for a bigger house or expecting the tax payers to keep her family, she has a husband for that job, why should anyone be allowed to expect tax payers to keep there families, i suggest this man sleeps in his tent all the time, and the women need to seek therapy, who would live a life like that, diana |

Marie, I have had to work hard to bring up my five. If you look at my earlier posting I didn't say he wasn't earning. I just hoped he was earning enough. |

I think that someone should forward to him, the moral of this story........... Original Added by Honey Rum on 25/08/2005 11:39:50 There was a preacher whose wife was expecting a baby so he wentto the congregation and asked for a raise. After much consideration anddiscussion, they passed a rule that whenever the preacher's family expanded,so would his paycheck. After 6 children, this started to get expensive and the Congregation decided to hold another meeting to discuss the preacher's salary. There was much yelling and bickering about how much the clergyman's additional children were costing the church. Finally, the Preacher got up and spoke to the crowd, 'Children are a gift from God,' he said. Silence fell on the congregation. In the back of the room, a little old lady stood up and in her frail voicesaid, 'Rain is also a gift from God, but when we get too much, we wear rubbers.' And the congregation said, 'Amen.' |

Dont get me wrong, I wasnt saying he should get everything because he has lots of kids and that everyone that works should pay for them, I was just trying to point out that we shouldnt judge people to harshly if we dont know the full circumstances. Also he if doesnt work now but maybe did in the past most of his life and paid his dues, doesnt that give him some sort of right to ask for help with bigger accomodation? not saying he will get it or is entitled to it but it doesnt hurt to ask. I havent read about his situation so dont really know all the facts, just seemed that a few people seemed to judge him a bit harshly. Marie |

This is the full story from the Press Association - father-of-14 is demanding a larger house for him to share with his wife, girlfriend and eight of their children. Mick Philpott, 49, says his council house in Allenton, Derby, is too cramped to accommodate his clan and he wants the city council to rehouse them. Today, a Derby City Council spokeswoman said: 'He has only been on the waiting list since February 24. They already have the biggest available council property in Derby.' Mr Philpott lives with his girlfriend, Lisa Willis, who is expecting his 15th child, and his wife Mairead. The two women are understood to get on well. Mrs Philpott, 25, is the mother of four children, aged seven, six, three and two, who also live at the four-bedroom house. Miss Willis, 22, is mother to a six-year-old, who is from another relationship, and three other children living there, aged four, two and 11 months. When two more of Mr Philpott's children visit he says he has to sleep in a tent in his back garden with his wife. He is frustrated, he says, that the council has failed to find him a house. 'They always come up with the same excuses,' Mr Philpott told the Derby Evening Telegraph. 'They're just not good enough. I love my country, but at the moment I feel ashamed of it. I think the country is going down the pan.' The family live on £508 per week benefits, which are awarded to the two women, along with income from Mrs Philpott's part-time job at a local hospital. He is also father to six other children, aged 19, 18, 15, eight, seven and five months from three other relationships. The council spokeswoman said the family's property, which has three double bedrooms and a spare parlour room, has space to accommodate up to 16 people. The local authority has a handful of five-bedroom homes which are not available at present, she said. She added: 'As soon as anything larger becomes available we will get in touch. Properties to accommodate huge families are not built nowadays. I think they will have a long wait. 'We don't make judgements on people's lifestyles, we just try to accommodate their requests the best we can.' Copyright Press Association 2006. |

well that says it all £508 per week benefit. He would need a profession to earn that amount!! My in-laws had 7 children and the fathre was apainter and decorator all their married life. They lived in a council house but never demanded a bigger one. They did manage to buy their council house after about 25 years of marriage. |

I'd actually prefer some of my taxes went to help his kids have a better start in life than go to some of the useless politicians and public service managers who are no more deserving |

everyone knows at least one person on a scam of some sorts. nothing will change as children involved and you cant let children go without. as i said last week. the goverment will claim at next election they have cut by a large percentage those on benefits. but really they hav`nt just transfered it to tax credits. did you know that those coming off benefits getting a 16 hr part time job a week get a 400 pound bonus. if have two children they get £600 a month, family tax credit what ever they earn from job,,plus no control of checking how many hours they are doing. half council tax,and half council rent. gaining council property by deception, honest people don`t stand a chance. gaining council property and then subletting ,,very easy to do gaining council property, and flogging for huge profit,,very easy. no proper checks on the new tax credits, very easy to abuse,,there will be quite alot of this in the news soon. over 50 percent of single women claiming benefits are no longer single. oooha,,, if only they made public those on benefits or households where benifits are claimed. it would`nt take long to bring under control. it was not that long back that i was told i am not entitled to council housing because i work. in my research i have come across all of the above and more,,,but who in the right mind is going to work if you are given it on a plate. derek it is not cost effective to gather information by surveillance as when it gets to court,,,they just claim their partner has left now and they still get payments,,,and then no follow ups are made,,total waste of time. |

all of the names have something wrong with the spellings according to what you posted. their past electoral role activity is quite interesting, but i won`t post it. if i was him this is what i would do. demand bigger house,,,,not if but when he gets it. leaves his wife there with their children,,or make up a story so bizaar that they all can`t live together any more. he then with girlfriend and their children move out and demand the council house them. they then after a wee bit buy one of either two houses,,as they get a large discount for being council tenants,,, then flog it for huge profit move back in with ex-wife again,,,,its easy not to declare money form house sale,,,,which is why lots of elderly have cash,, lots amounts stashed at home.which is why their a target for robbery`s. do i need to go on ,,,nah you got the jist. derek |

I do beg to differ about no proper checks on the family tax credit. I work different amount of hours each week so every 4 weeks I have to sit in the council offices to show thm my wage slips and then at the end of tax year I have to send my wage slips to family credit office and they then adjust my benefits if I have been over paid. I have even had a visit at home from the council to check my cercumstances which is a complete waste of time and money when certain people up my street have never worked and run a tobacconists from his front door. |

How VERY dare he criticise the country that is supporting his family! It is ever likely that the country is 'going down the pan' with people like him such a drain on the resources. |
