A father of 14 lives in a council house in Derbyshire with wife and girlfriend and 8 of their children. Girlfriend is expecting his 15th child. Says it is to cramped and sometimes has to sleep in a tent in the garden MY OPINION He should have slept there more often then he would not have had so many kids!!!!!!! |

I am going to probably get verbally throttled for this but I truely believe that I any couple makes the decision to have more that 2 or 3 children then they should have to support them themselves. I know families where both parents are working and because they are responsible they are limiting themselves to 2 children because they cannot afford more. |

So he doesn't work ?? Not having a go, I'm 1 of 15, Dad always worked, I think he would have been laughed at if he asked for a bigger house. Heather |

You should have children according to your means surely. I would love to have more children but with age and cost, I have decided I won't. If he's supporting them all and I don't just mean the ones he's currently with, then good luck to him. But if the tax payers are paying for this then it would be cheaper in the long term for us to pay for a vasectomy for him. Years ago when people had 7 or 8 kids in a family there was no contraception, nowdays people have no excuse. |

I think it IS to do with every tax payer if we are supporting HIS children! |

It is all very well to demand ~ it sounds as though he thinks he has the right to a larger house~ and i guess he'll get it. to live with a girl friend AND a wife seems a bit out of the ordinary though?does the chap work? No one has the right to say how many children should be 'allowed' but this number with an inability to support then finacially is iirresponsible~on both thier parts.Contraception is free! |

I'm with Ginny on this. The State should only have to pay for a limited number of children. But that would be impossible to implement without having to sterilise one or other of the couple. We wouldn't be able to do it without their consent. And if they did have any more children and couldn't afford to keep them they would still land on the Taxpayers shoulders. Maybe it's time for a new Law against 'Taking the Pi**'. Then he could be locked up and not be able to keep churning them out. |

No need for sterilization Jim - just stop the benefits! I think that I can safely say that for many having a multitude of children in this state is a career move! |

.......................If you want that number of children you have got to be prepared to PROVIDE...and that means appropriate accommodation - why should tha state (aka tax payers provide it?) |
