Brilliant shows. I listened to Dick Barton Special Agent with Snowy and I think Ginger . My mom could not get closer to the wireless ( old name for radio) to listen. Itma with Tommy Handley ( a Liverpool comedian) was the one show where even bombing in the war could not force people to the shelters until it was over, Colonel Chinstrap, Fumf ,the German spy, Mrs Mopp whos call was Can I do yer now sir? Pity they dont bring back these show. although with television I doubt whether a radio audiance could be found to make it worthwhile. Rupert |

Dick Barton 1845hrs - 1900hrs Mon to Friday. Set the clocks with that show. 'In Town Tonight' 'Family Favourites' and all the others that have been mentioned - plus ones that have escaped the grey matter (anno domini) 'Down you way' |

Yeah, I remember - and we didn't have a wireless for years. I used to go to my friends to listen to the Goons. Round the Horn, Navy Lark., with John Pertwee, Lesley Philips I got the tapes from the BBC some years ago and still listend to the Navy Lark IYMA - it's that man again, and TTFN - ta ta for now. Sandra that would have been 'Life is Bliss' with Percy Edwards as the voice of Psyche the dog. I wanted to call my very first dog Psyche but my Mum and Dad absolutely refused. Over the years hubby's maintained the veto so I guess I'll never have a dog called Psyche! Cherry |
