No idea what the research is based on. My mum was nearly 32 when she had me. My kids are doomed, I was 35 and 37 when I had them. Anyway, if the odds on living to be 100 are doubled if your mum was under 25, what are the odds if she isn't? If your chance of reaching 100 is small, doubling it isn't going to do much.

mine was 43 when she had me and sis.......didnt know she was having twins ....in 1953.........she died aged 75. supose mine will be lucky ......had three by the time i was 21.......none sinse ann xx

Does it make a difference how old the dad was? My grand daughters mother was 18 but the dad was 63

My mum was 31 and I was two weeks and a day off 35 when I had my son. Mum and Dad both lived till they were 79, Mum's mother died when Mum was 16, Dad's Mum died at 90 odd, both my grandfathers died before I was born. Not sure what that tells me but I hope I live to be over 80 as long as I stay fairly well and as mentally alert as is possible.

My mum was 30, I was 30 when I had first son. My dads mum was in her 40s when she had my dad (last of 14). She lived to 92.

my mum was 17 when she had me and said if she had her time again she'd have a rabbit instead! nice to know I'm going to be around al long time to annoy her!! my gr aunt was 100 last week and her mum had her at 28 ;O)

I wonder whether they looked at the YEAR of birth as well as mothers age. There are lots of factors that contribute to longevity; genetics being important but so is lifestyle & diet. People born during the first half of the 20th century have the best chance of living to a ripe old age. In due course I expect we shall see that people born after about 1960 will not live as long as their parents generation. Lots of women in my family tree lived into their 90s, My maternal gt gran died at the age of 93 in 1978, she was one of twins born when her mother was 44 (the other twin died at 50) my paternal gran who died in 1994 aged 91 was the fifth child, born when her mother was 38. She had been a smoker most of her life, which is probably why she didn't make 100. An elder sister born 6 years earlier died aged 97. Their mother was 92 when she died in 1957 - she was born when HER mother was 35.

Mom was twenty when I was born. I would not like to live to be a hundred! Lindy ;-))

Min was 21, not sure about living to a hundred, especially if the mind goes or the bowels and waterworks fail!!!
