I was 18 and a couple of months and got a place at uni in Wales. I popped home for the odd week while at uni and for about 3 months afterwards while looking for a permanent job, but never again felt comfortable living there. I moved out permanently as soon as I could - if I hadn't I don't think my parents and me would have been on speaking terms much longer!!!! Its not about falling out, just growing out of your place in the family home and needing to make your own space. Angela |

The day before I was18 I got married. But I still have 3 sons between 21 and 28 at home! A couple of them would go if they could afford it, but all their money goes on important things like going out etc! |

left at 18 to move in my first house with my boyfriend of two years, married him a year later in 1988 and we are still together with kids age 11 and 14. When I left I said bye to Dad and he just said 'ok' - 3 hours later he asked Mum why I hadn't I come back from the hairdresser's!!!! Joanne |

I left at 17 when parents moved a fair distance away and I couldn't see the point of going with them. They moved back a year later, didn't like where they went to!! I went back for a year until I got married. Wasn't the same. Dianex |

Crikey - I was older than most who've added here and yet I seemed to be young at the time to be leaving home! Depressed Dan? Your parents sound so young and great fun - I'm surprised. How are you going to fund it - not cheap you know. Hope it all works out for you. Debby |

Not thinking, I am going to sooner than later. When I'm away I am better in myself. Being here is just making me depressed if you want an honest answer. |

tipped out aged 15! Managed with determination and a lot of luck. missed out on a normal family life early on but am really happy with my life now. Youngest two, 18 and 25, still living at home, I will be quite happy for them to leave when they are ready. |
