I cannot believe a little girl of 11 experiences sexual desire. It WAS rape, we all know the child was intoxicated. The 15-year-old deserves to have his balls cut off - by comparison, he IS a man!

Daniel Report 12 May 2006 21:36

If it was full rape would the girl not have said? Lucia. No chance. Quite an absurd law. Even if it is 'apparently' (Holland you should be ashamed) working there, our culture is different.

11 is a very immature age, i can barely remember being 11 and i am only 26. I fell pregnant at 20 and was devastated and i still think i was too young. I cant believe her mum is proud, my immediate reaction would be my daughters safety and life. How can a 12 year old cope with the physical stress of giving birth, she is still only a child. I agree that the parents should be punished for neglect!

Daniel, the age of consent law was changed upwards relatively recently. Parliament wanted a higher age than 16 and the Lords kept it that low so that their sons could 'continue to practice on servant girls without fear of prosecution'. My Lords' daughters were not to be subjected to adolescent fumblings, oh dear me, no. Sexual mores and standards of morality are a man-made construct. Here in Washington state an age difference of more than 3 years between sexually active couples is illegal if the girl is 18 or younger, so as you can see, different societies make different rules to protect or exploit depending on the 'morals' of the time.

Daniel, you don't think more open social attitudes would be a good thing?

Daniel

Daniel Report 12 May 2006 21:48

I don't think so Lucia. There's only so many blind eyes you can turn before you get lost.

I think that it is disgusting that this child(should have been) allowed to continue with the pregnancy.and she should be taken away from these parents that seem to have no moral values at all....... She, The Child, should some how be taught that moral values are a must!! LOVE, MARRIAGE/Partnership, CHILDREN, IN THAT ORDER. I am sorry but my particular beliefs are with the old school. Bob ps I replaced ''is'' with those in brackets.....

Debbie

Debbie Report 12 May 2006 21:55

How far on was the pregnancy when discovered ?

Daniel

Daniel Report 12 May 2006 21:55

I don't agree with a termination. The baby is the only innocent one in all of this. Certainly call in Social Services though.

As the mother of an almost 14yr old daughter I would be mortified, if she came home and told me she was pregnant. There is no way I could be proud of her. Also I wouldn't be proud if she came home smelling of drink or fags..... I fail to understand the mothers attitude. I read this story to my almost 11yr old son on the way to his appointment this morning, and asked him how he'd feel to be dad next yr...... his first reaction was YIPPEE no more school LOL. So I said to him but whats does no school mean........ he answered no education...... and I asked no education??? he said no job....... and i said no job????? he said no money. I think i'm doing ok with my four LOL

Daniel, a fair point...I don't even know how to respond to that lol I don't believe in abortion. A baby's a baby.

Well the pattern will probably continue in this family if something isn't done, that mother didn't give a damn what her daughter was doing, drinking and smoking at 11? Now that parent will be involved in bringing up this baby while her daughter finishes her schooling, and in a few years time the baby will be the one out drinking and smoking and getting pregnant at 11 too (is it turns out to be a she, and if a boy will probably be out vandalising cars, and smoking and drinking and having sex with underage girls) and so it will go on. It is time the parents were charged with neglect, if the mother had failed to send the girl to school enough times, she could be jailed, so why isn't she jailed for neglecting the girl's moral welfare. I have seen reports where in one family, all three daughters were having babies at an extremely young age, and the mother said she couldn't call them, cos she had her first daughter while still at school (under 16). Sometimes I feel such despair at the way this world is going. Liz

Not so much letting her behave as an adult but actively encouraging her by the sound of it. See my posting - I do so agree with you.

Children are maturing earlier these days due to the relatively high standard of living we have in this country. I certainly wouldn't put it past a maturer 11 year old being inquisitive about sex, and, although the boy at 15 should have known better, his hormones were probably all over the place too. So in my opinion either both are guilty of rape or else we have to think of another way to deal with these little tragedies. In any case the blame must go to the ''responsible'' parent who, from the reports I have heard, isn't fit enough to look after a flea circus, let alone a daughter.

I hope you are referring to childbirth not intercourse Blossom, as I wouldn't want to think of your granddaughters getting hangups about sex for later on.

I think it is a bit silly of her to have this child when she is still a child herself. My brother and partner have a 3 month old, and they are only 19 & 18, and they are finding it hard to cope, as any new parent does. How will she cope? She will find out the very hard way that parenthood is not easy. The sleepless nights, feeding etc. She was drunk when she slept with this boy, where was this girls mother? Was there any regard for her child's safety? What was she doing out drinking? Her mother is just as irresponsible as her child!
