My daughter is 12 in July. She is still a little girl. Obviously some girls are more mature than others. My daughter has never had a boyfriend never mind sex. I have to say where are the parents in all this. I think they should be punished as well. I know my daughters every move but obviously they don't have that control. I really don't think she is mature enough for the birth etc, |

I feel sorry for the girl. It's not her fault. I think you'd have to question her parents too. She obviously hasn't been educated well enough if she believes that she can have sex without becoming pregnant. Perhaps we should change the law to be something like they have in the Netherlands. They have set the age of consent as 12. |

I was a little bit older then this young lady when i first fell preganent(not prepared to say how old) but when i was her age we were not told the hows, then whens and the wheres of preganecy. Now they know everything. I can not condone the young lady, but the so called mother needs to be taken in hand. She is shouting from the hill tops how proud of her daughter she is. What is wrong with this woman??? She seems to me to only want to see the £signs that papers and mags will offer. The poor girl has been brought up wrong but what can be done now? Nothing i`m afraid. The damage is done. And for the child to come from a child? God knows Vanessa |

When I was 10 years old, being told the facts of life by my mother, I was informed that I had to be sure I loved someone before doing the thing that made babies. Why is that not enough for everyone? |

I think that part of the problem is that fashio for young girls is so explicit, but I think that her parents are more to blame, thet have not bought this young lady up properly at all |

The childs parents should be taken to court on a charge of neglect, you cannot blame the two kids for this, apparently the act happened while she was drunk on a night out, DRUNK ON A NIGHT OUT,AT TWELVE YEARS OLD! i wouldn't trust them with a dog, never mind a child. |

Can't blame the kids? Why? They're not exactly free from guilt in this matter. |

daniel, you can't blame the kids because they are children, granted, the fifteen year old is old enough to know better, but the girl certainly isn't, its obvious you have no children of your own, or you would have a different attitude. |

My attitude regarding legal matters is fine. Kids stealing, commiting arson, being abusive. That's alright. They're just kids. Allowing the law to go unheeded and rule breakers unpunished is taking society down a murky path. I for one will not condone it. |

That's alright then. Maybe it's just me and old ways but I always thought that sort of thing was something to be ashamed of. |

What are you saying Tommy, that a girl of 11 CAN'T see anything wrong with a big boy taking her knickers off and putting his willy inside her? |

I can't believe what i'm hearing from two or three of you, one of you even wants the age of consent to be brought down to twelve, that is sick.we are talking about a CHILD, where are all the parents to back me up. |

I am totally against the changing of laws to suit those that flout them. 12 is a rediculous proposal. What am I saying, and I speak only for myself, is that an 11 year-old is not stupid. As wrong as it is under present law only the male can be prosecuted. I want courts to set an example, to bring an end to such lewd goings-on, and to start putting our immoral members of society back on the straight and narrow. |

Yes I know I never thought of that properly. But is seems to work in Holland. The teenage pregnancy rate there is a sixth of that of the UK. Anyway the age of consent, 12 is between two minors I think. They are also very open about things and that helps. |
