I know what I would normally say, but seeing as you state it was RAPE, my feelings are different. I say good luck to her and wish the family the very best. The boy. I would hope for 5 years min.

my ex hubby's step niece was 13 when she had her daughter!!

I know just been reading about it, she is only a child herself, I would not of been very happy if it were my daughter.

no it wasnt rape she wanted to do it, but it is statutory rape, the bit I found even more distressing was that she was on 20 a day and her mother was PROUD of her!!!!!!

Paul

Paul Report 12 May 2006 16:37

Dan, she didn't say it was rape, she says he faces rape charges. Not the same thing. In the eyes of the law, it is statutory rape, as she's underage. What amazes me is that the mother says she's proud of the girl (which was aparrently drunk when she conceived). Supportive... fair enough. Proud ?!?!

Paul Report 12 May 2006 16:38

Julia.. great minds.

I have read it that she wasn't raped, just now then boy is on rape charges, maybe the parents of the girl went to the police?...surely there is some crime commited tho as he had sex with a minor. BB xx

Oh well in that case I'm not getting into this. This debate has come up before and the law needs to changed to prosecute the tarts as well. That's all I'm saying.

have no desire to publicly judge family, what ever my personal feeling are...but also dont judge the boy too harshly either....it was not rape

daniel you have such a lovely way with words..you should become a writer lmao

Paul

Paul Report 12 May 2006 16:42

Dan... you have a valid point I think.and in fairness, he was under age too.

Daniel

Daniel Report 12 May 2006 16:46

Of course Paul. This law is allowed to be broken and society is suffering for it. You can't buy alcohol until aged 18, yet you can bring life into the world at 16? Honestly, does that make sense?

Paul

Paul Report 12 May 2006 16:47

ah, now we're probably getting to the point where we disagree lol and in this case, she's 12, not 16

My beautiful grandaughter is 11 and a half, I shudder to think of her being used in that way. Really for the girl of 12 it is a tragedy for her, she should be enjoying childhood not bringing up a child herself. What kind of mentality does her mother have to be 'proud' of her? Unfortunately young girls these days see a cute baby in pretty clothes and smiling sweetly, not an unhappy baby, with colic or illness or teething who can't sleep.Bringing up children is demanding and they just do not realise the full extent of it.

Daniel

Daniel Report 12 May 2006 17:11

Paul this argument is rediciulous, although I admit I strayed from the main point. Both parties should be charged and punished accordingly.

Personally I think giving birth at the age of 12 and then being responsible for a baby is punishment enough. nell

Daniel

Daniel Report 12 May 2006 17:21

Ha. Right. Well the punishment isn't putting children off is it? Let's set an example.

When I saw she was looking forward to being a mother - all I could think of was there is hard labour before that kid - could be a long one too. Ann

I agree with Webster. Feel nothing but sadness for them. Like Nell, I think the girl is going to suffer more than she deserves for getting into something she's not old enough to deal with the consequences of. 'Tarts' Daniel?!? That's incredibly harsh. Be grateful that you've grown up with a better sense of what's good for you and what isn't.
