Hello folks. I'm in the (nearly) most 'orrible New Town in Britain, Hemel. Up in the Giddy Heights of Warners End! I may be available if you don't mind the intrusion of a male wrinklie?

You have to wear the appropriate attire....if you haven't got your costume yet, well....first get some sticky back plastic and an empty washing up liquid bottle. Cardboard box cut to shape. Egg boxes to cut shapes and stick on. Mum's colander, or plastic bucket. sink plunger funny voice. paint them grey........you're all set......

I shall - if I can make it 'cos I'm supposed to be Babysitting! I shall hurtle up on an electric bicycle in shorts and T shirt, stay for a quick coffee and hurtle off in similar fashion so I don't get a rollicking from my wife! If that's ok? (The hurtling on the electric bike isn't a joke!)

Ooops! And I think Starbucks is left after M&S and before the two bridges! If you go too far you are consumed by the Magic Roundabout!

What is wrog with the giddy heights of warners end ? I knew someone that lived in Someries road, ages and ages ago ( like early 60's!) I did part of my traing at Rossgate school, and well remember the rest of my training at St albans college, when i had to wait for the bus at hemel Bus station - what a joy THAT was! we used to go in the market cafe and have a LIME milkshake... very sophisticated! I guess no-one but me remembers that tube /bridge thing across the Marlowes.... that really makes me feel my age Jess x Jess

Sally Moonchild Report 4 Jul 2006 16:34

Ooooh Lesley.......I'm curling wth embarrassment........the final meet ended with Penny and I, and she is lovely, we had a rather iffy iced coffee and some sandwiches...... ....I got to Marks & Sparks at 10.40, and followed my instructions, past Monsoons, to the bridge.....only there are two.....how come I didn't notice the other one.......never mind, its not rocket science........looked over at Debenhams, then shops to the right and..........NO STARBUCKS.......but something with seats outside called Tootsies..... I was so caught up in my eagerness to attend a 'meet' however small that I didn't give any real clues as to what I looked like, or what Penny and Andy looked like........what to do now?.......

* Loopy Lesley

* Loopy Lesley Report 4 Jul 2006 16:42

lol Sally Fancy forgetting to tell eachother what you looked like lmao OR if you had arranged to all wear a flower you might have looked like you were blind daters lol.... I take it Andy didnt show then? or that you didnt know what he looked like? lol Lesley :~)

think..........right, approach the man and ask him if he belongs to GR........no, he doesn't.....quick explanation as to who GR are....then whilst we are talking up comes this younger lady, so I think that she must be Penny........I ask her,......she says 'no - Dad, I can't leave you alone for five minutes and you're picking up ladies' - quick explanation about Genes Reunited......and I move on. Lady goes into Starbucks, looks lost, looks round as if she is meeting someone......approach her........she wasn't amused......went onto another lone lady.........no.........by this time the first man and his daughter are laughing at me.......I decide to hang around in the vicinity and make a mental note that I am not really cut out for this. I then see this lady.....again quick explanations about GR and ancestors and things - and I am talking about meeting this lady from St. Albans, when up comes Penny and says hello. Sorry Alan, if you did turn up.....I did try......there was this chap on a bike........all done up in cycling gear.......but he was German, so after some chat about Nuremberg and the football, and how he works at Hemel Hospital and lives at St. Albans....Penny and I at last meet and sit down for coffee.....

Sally Moonchild

Sally Moonchild Report 4 Jul 2006 16:48

I feel at home with Penny, she is easy to get on with.... we sit outside in the sun, and order a couple of iced coffees.......then along comes my friend and her daughter, they sit with us and the chat turns to medical problems and horses........ Thank you Penny....it was lovely meeting you and seeing the pictures of your two lovely boys.......I am really glad to have met someone off the board..........a face to a name, so to speak......this has given me the impetus to join in a larger meet, that someone with a bit more savvy than me has arranged..... ...to Alan......I'm sorry if you are wandering around the precinct still......I did look out for you.........
