They were put on Oxygen for an hour or so, and then had some other tests done .... they both say they do feel a little better ..... but had ONLY just got home when they phoned me. They have to go back to hospital again (not sure when) .... but we are all still mystified as to how or where they got the poisoning from. Doctors asked them if they smoked, but after the tests, both are found to have fit and healthy lungs - regardless of smoking. Anyway ... mystery lingers but both girls are back home :-) Elaine ;-)

*EXPLANATION FOR THIS THREAD* Daughter and house mate have both been really ill for last few days. Severe Headaches, Violently Sick, Excessive Tiredness, shakey etc. Housemate went to doctors who said sympton's sound like C M poisoning. Called Gas Board out - who condemned house !! -whilst waiting on Engineer to do proper checks. This morning, daughter also went to her doctor - he said exactly same .... so BOTH girls were told to go to hospital this afternoon. .......... Engineers can't find ANY C M leakage at the house, although there were minor faults with Boiler and Cooker (both repaired) ... and he condemned the Gas Fire but NOT because of CM. The ONLY other place they may have got it was work (they both worked together) - (daughter made redundant yesterday) .. but work has no connection with Gas .. (ironic that it is a Gas Boiler Call Centre !! ) SO ... where/when/how they BOTH end up with CM poisoning is a complete mystery .... but they are both back home now :-)) Elaine ;-) (For those who weren't aware :-) ...)

strange coincidence here. Phoned my mum last night and she told me that her corbonmonoxide alarm went of in the night. She had a new boiler fitted recenlty but it is in the cupboard in her bedroom. She said she closed the door and went into the lounge to sleep and phoned the people in the morning. Think she is waiting for a gas man to come today to check it all. Perhaps I sould have told her to open the windows but she live in a bungalow and wont leave the windows open at night.

I thought that was illegal, Gloryer Gloryer, to have a gas boiler in your bedroom?

Christina Report 10 Aug 2006 20:04

Glad that they are OK but I think that I would go out and buy a CM monitor and install it at their home to make sure that there isn't a leakage that has been missed - better safe than sorry. Christina

Elaine... what a worry.. thank goodness they are both O.K. Had they been to a pub or club where they could have inhaled the fumes? Hope someone is investigating this. Jean x.

Hi all, Wasn't aware that you could buy CM detectors ???? Gas Board or Engineer hasn't said anything ??? how strange ! WILL be investigating that one DEFINATELY. Daughter did go to a night club last Friday night .... but house mate didn't ..... so not been at the same place together only home and work ....... they share the driving to work, every week, alternating. They also pick up the same 3 other people on route - none of the others are suffering ( so car had been elliminated ) .. Off to Ebay to look for detectors ....... THANKS for that advice :-))) REALLY appreciate that :-) Elaine ;-)

Had a service engineer out to due the annual gas boiler/radiator maintenance, and he advised me to get a carbon monoxide tester........he had one on board and said I would receive a bill from the gas board as he was not allowed to take the £38 it cost. It sounds a lot of money, but it is for safetys sake........had the bill a month later.....

Thank goodness for that Elaine, my husband's friend died with CM poisoning after his boiler had been serviced and they hadn't put something back properly! The only reason his wife survived was because she fell next to the cat flap. We got our CM detector from Screwfix - get a few of you together to buy them from there and you can get them a bit cheaper. However dear they are - they are worth every penny. Mags x
