Hi to all,

Ladylol,thanks for posting this thread.It's been very informative reading all about it.Asperger's Syndrome was just a name to me,I didn't really know much about it.It must be very difficult coping with a child with it,trying to help them,but not knowing how.You
have done brilliantly to get through this,and so has
your son,well done to both of you.The teenage years are difficult enough for most kids without the added
stress of living with this condition.,but you sound like you have managed to understand how your son feels,and how it affects him.,that must reduce his frustration.Good luck to everyone else who are trying to find answers,you are very brave people.

samantha, firstly is there a local school that has a unit for kids with learning difficulties, if so insist that your children attend that, because that was the break through i needed for my child, for what its worth get a social worker, i don't rate them but you do have a slightly higher chance of getting the help you need with one , im not knocking them all so worth a try, look up support groups in your area, i went to one and for the first meeting i just cried all the way through it but felt better, so make a loud noise and get heard best wishes lorraine aka puss xx

my son's repite care cope fine but his school is a night mear he's been exclued from school for a week for his behaviour and excluded off transport witch keep him out of school for 7 mounths as i was liveing to far away from the school to get him there so end up taking legall action aginst the county council and he is still being sent home on and off by school cause school can't cope with him

neathier of my two are quit at that age yet but i hope my oldest can get a chance to do well as we are strugerlying to get the surrport he needs and to get the school to bring out his pertenloe that me and my family know he has .as come to thingk about it it wont be long as my oldsest is 11 but the youngest is only 6 he dont turn 7 till dec

lol, i m pleased and hoped it has helped it has been hard and there have been times ive wanted to give up, but there is hope its just so wrong you have to fight for this to be reconised and why in some parts of the country you can get help and others you cant, belive me ive been lucky i have had help, apart fr4om respite his care couldnt cope so he was never placed again lol for a weelend respite lol.

To everyone hear.....just read every reply and i'm crying my eyes out.....and i'm so sorry puss did'nt realise your son suffered with this......i just wan't to comend all you mother's out there for the strenth and courage it takes to ,not just to be a mum..but to put in with your heart and soul the extra time and effort and dedication to improve your childs quality of life.....well done to you all. Hi Puss, I work with kids with autism and aspergers so that is the limit of my experience, have other difficulties with one of my own as you know, You have done brilliantly and his dad has let him down, simple as that, its too easy for them to walk isnt it? Hugs Caz xxxxxxxxx

Puss - congratulations to your son. Reading this thread has bought tears to my eyes. You are one hell of a lady - and so are you others who have children with this syndrome. know what you mean sal, i tried cod liver and baananas as lol, nothing helped and part of the problem is there fussy with food any way , my son is so thin and pale always has a cold and sore on his face from malutrition but you try force feeding vitamins to a 51/2 ft 16 yearold with the strengh of a ox, no thanks . just hope in time he will have a fad for vegatables, i used to hide peas in his sandwhiches untill he found them , now he wont eat sandwiches .

sharon love you did the write thing, its hard but its for there own good too, esopecially not senceing danger and there strengh, , my hubby is 6ft and 12 stone he has had to sit on my son, to stop him hurting himself, thankfully due to the tablets he stays calm, and yes we have younger child, its been awfull for her. she helps a teacher in her class by sitting with a boy with aspergers as she can help commniicate, i said i dont mind as long as it dosnt hold her back.

Yes.....Thomas head butted his 8 year old brother, he is 11 and also very tall, I also think that he gets very frustrated, but my SIL is very strong minded and will not consider meds. He has been on a special diet for years and years, but that has not helped, just made him very thin and pale....wish they would just try it even for a trial period.

Sal my daughter had to go on meds to help calm her down her violnce was so bad at one point she attacked a child at school so badly he had to go to A&E, then with 72hrs she attacked me, she is only 10 but is very tall for her age 5ft 2 and I am only 2' taller! it was a hard decision to make but at the end of the day it had to be done we have another daughter that we have to think about. She has no sence of danger and a very high pain thresh hold, infact she has damaged the sking on her left hand as she bites herself when upset or angry. Sharon

defo sal, i take 14 a day and have a drink on a friday night takes more than one pain away just for that one night, im much healthier on the tablets then off them and want quality life not quantity if that makes sense i dont wish to die young , but i still want fun and pain free nights when i can lol, sal, of course you can will pm it to you, hope they let him have some med, at the end of the day they have discoverd some types od depression is a lack of seritonin, so what is wrong with tablest that boost your low levels. there still not sure where aspergers comes from i have my strong suspisions in fact i can pinpoint the day, but lets hope they get to the bottom of it because this is definatley one of the most sloe destrying problems you can have to deal with .

Thanks Puss.....I am not sure that they will listen as they will not listen to anyone, kind of in denial I think....I work in the disability field with Autism etc and they won't listen to me....however, I would very much like you email as my mother would love to have someone to ask questions to as she is a very concerned grandmother, as we feel that holding back medication is causing undue harm in effect really, and Thomas could be far calmer and happier with it....all medication is not a bad thing but a helpful thing if correct, dont you think?

also what i find astonishing he has self taught himself to read and play music he learnt himself the guitar which i love listning to, he is hoping tpo go on to college and do music which again will be a big hurdle but we got this far, nothing stopping us now. i feel bitter his dad turned his back and said he couldnt handle it , bit mayby its best for him to be gone than be hear and resent it. specky is a special man he is his best friend .

sal she must let him be treated, its hell for child too, they are so strong, they dont want to lash out but its one emotion they can can controll to get out of controll. this is awfull for them but the medication would help in calming, him, also he could really harm himself when he becomes violent , my son would smash his head of walls and would really harm himself, they dont cry wolf. sal do you want my email, to give them, i wouldnt preach but i would listen xx
