I'm sure most people can read instructions!

On stinging experiences - well.....
In Malta I slept under a mosquito net.
I was never bothered by mosquitoes during the day - not even during the mozzie season!
I was stung on the head by a bee in Kirkpatrick Fleming.
I didn't know it was there, and brushed my hair back with my hand.
It was a 'novel' experience. My scalp swelled slightly, and I had a 'fuzzy' feeling for about half an hour, then all back to relative normality :-D

I have been bitten through a shirt on the stomach by a Blandford Fly.
How do I know it was a Blandford Fly? I was in Blandford :-D
It swelled up a bit, then became pusy (pussy?) scabbed over, and was completely gone within 2 months :-0

Third time was a wood ant. Sitting in the shade of trees one very sunny afternoon in the New Forest - nowhere near any visible wood ant mound. The sun was very hot. I was wearing Jeans and sturdy boots.
I actually said to my friends 'It feels like the sun is being magnified onto my leg, through my jeans'. It felt like very sore sunburn.
Pulled my jeans up bl**dy wood ant walks out! :-|
Slightly sore (I wouldn't like more than one), but gone the next day.

Despite the proliferation of midges around the still waters of Clickimin Broch in Shetland, they only invaded our tent (with built in mosquito net) once in all the 6 months we lived there.
I was fine - OH not so lucky.
However, he was luckier than Marcel.

Unbeknown to us (the 'tenting' community) Marcel turned up in the early hours, with no tent - nothing. He slept under some plastic sheeting.
We found him the next morning, delirious and swollen from head to toe with midge bites.
He was taken to hospital, and returned two days later - still with no tent, and insisting he could sleep in the open.
Some fools won't learn, so OH went into town and bought him a small tent - with a built in mosquito net!!

I had a fair number of ticks and leeches attach themselves to me when living on Dartmoor as a child. Dad used to burn the ticks off, and he taught me how to remove the leeches :-D

It is unsafe to drive a car, fly (as pilot) or operate safety related equipment after taking 1st and 2nd generation antihistamines. 3rd gen OK.
Alcohol and 1st gen antihistamine doubleplus ungood.

My own experience is limited to family. For whatever reason stinging insects don't much like my flavor not even Iraqi mozzies or that scourge of the sassenachs, midges. I was stung by a bumble bee at 6 yrs and still vividly remember the pain of it. So much sympathy to those bitten.

Get a Zap -it. Can buy them from Amazon. I am allergic to bites but using this and getting to the bite fast it stops the reaction and the itching and you aren't having to take any medication.

I zap the bite about 20 times as soon as I'm aware I've been bitten and it disappears.

They go on for years so are cheaper in the long run than creams and medication.

When I got stung by wasps that were swarming last year the doc told me to take double the normal anti histamine dose as well as strong antibiotics. The stings were over 4 inches in diameter and I had 21.
