NS - I was told that they need to be able to check the colour of your nails post op, particularly when you're asleep or 'out for the count'. If they're blue it's not a good sign - i.e. you could be popping your clogs :-0

That's true Wend. The medics can tell quite a lot by the state of your nails - even as a wide awake out-patient :-D

I too had plans for growing old disgracefully........ but I don't have the energy :-(

Toenails? Even if I could reach, I couldn't be bothered painting them.

Fingernails? Long ....... but I haven't painted them for years, I stick to clear varnish (not so noticeable when it gets chipped).

Makeup..... only when we go out......... by that, I mean when I leave the house lol

:-D

ps ~ if your nails are soft I recommend Sally Hanson's Miracle Cure :-)

Talking about nail remedies. Mine use to flake and chip. My rather cool young Asian doc suggested I paint them with 2 coats of Rimmel Nail Rescue before putting on the colour.

Never entered my head to use anything Rimmel before but gave it a go.
The result just brilliant. Nails as sharp and strong I forget to file them at times - a touch up with 2 or 3 coats of colour in a month - washing up and gardening has no effect on them.

Well that my tip for the day

Sharron

Sharron Report 29 May 2013 08:38

Our ex-parish clerk died last year. She was in her early eighties and had been very horsey.

Any money she ever spent was almost exclusively on her horse or her car when she had them. She would wear practically anything she could get hold of and had no vanity at all.

However, within the pair of heavy duty sandals she always wore in the summer, like the ones monks wear, were the most beautifully proportioned and delicately lovely two feet I have ever seen.

I don't notice feet but the contrast between sandal and foot was extraordinary.

How lovely, Sharron :-) I have the ugliest pair of feet in the universe so I concentrate on the good bits! Wouldn't dream of leaving house without my makeup on..have been doing it for 60 years and it is part of me. BC XX

nothing better than OPI Nail Envy - matt or shiny formula, for getting your nails in good condition they sell it in Boots but it's cheaper, even with the postage, from QVC Shopping channel

MotownGal Report 29 May 2013 20:14

I NEVER go out without me slap on.

Many years ago when I was a mere slip of a gel, I decided to go down to Woolies on a Saturday afternoon, and went out without makeup 'cos no-one would see me'. Blow me down if I didn't see every begger I knew!!!!

Since that time........................make up every day. When I catch sight of meself indoor without me slap on, I don't know who it is. ;-)

Not so much now...........when I was a dollybird I wore two pairs of eyelashes, eyeliner, foundation, highlighter, shader, eyeshadow, very pale lippy.

Took me a good half-hour to layer it all on!!!!

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
