Do funfairs count ? How many members over 40 have survived Alton Towers without chickening out from the rides?

Surely some of you have used a rickshaw or its modern version the jitney.
I have quite often been in both sail and powered dhows (Arab ships).
Peru is a good fun place and there I rode on a LLAMA. As an alternative you could ask Radio4 for a go on their's.

I learned that I could never be a racing driver with go carts but they are still good fun. The Stig should it a try. Maybe if the BBC cut his budget he will have to. Before go carts of course we had wheeled soap boxes - surely some members built ridden or crashed one?

My favourite is being pushed 50 yards or so while sitting inside a DALEK, oh yes, 1962. I also had a go with stilts when the circus came to town but didn't get far. By far the most fun is skiing but only rarely possible on Shooters Hill. When I was a kid they had electric buses called trolley bus. I hated them 'cos they killed my gtehtto blaster with the overhead wires but now I'd like to see them return. Green, cheaper than trams.

PUNTS are good favorites of mine too, duck punts for shooting on a cold blue Fenland morning, leisure punts on the backs with some pretty girls.

When in Wales I tried a coracle (round boat) but unsurprisingly it would only go round and round. Taff can make it go though.

In parts of France they have a kind of beach pedalo with huge wheels suspending the chairs, great fun. In the winter so is sand yachting.

Our Canadian members have probably used snowshoes and a kayak. Not to forget shouting mush mush to a husky dog train or thumbing a ride with the ice truckers. A rellie rode a bronco at Calgary stampede. In Vancouver I saw none of these things :-( but while in nearby San Francisco I did get a ride on a street car.

A mate in the army took me for a blast in his TANK ... best to do this in the morning before lunch. Makes a Range Rover look like a spoilt little puppy.

Most scary has to be the New York subway, even worse than Alton Towers.

:-D

Back in the 70s milk was delivered in glass bottles by milkmen driving electric delivery vehicles known as milk floats. I had a summer job driving one of these floats (and getting sore feet delivering the milk). One of the guys actually managed to get a speeding ticket whizzing down hill at the end of his shift.

Our milk is still delivered in bottles by the milkman who drives an electric milk float.

Good heavens I haven't seen a glass milk bottle or a float in years. The 4am hum of the motor and the full bottles crashing up and down in their crates will never leave me. Nor the glad ringing of the empties as you coaxed the tired batteries back to the depot.

Mary Poppins was on easter Sunday. She was pretty good with the old brromstick I thought.

Another one who had a ride in a police car.

To answer your question Mr Magoo -
yes, I've been in a police car, several times as it happens......

1st - I was hitching home, it was late & cold & I was young. The nice policemen took pity on me and took me most of the way home in their nice warm car.
2nd - another lift home. This time from my boyfriend, the local bobby.
3rd and many other times - my brother was in the Met, and for several years in Traffic.
;-)

P.S.
Ann in Cardiff - ROFPMSL at your response to the broomsticks!!
