Yes Stray, I think it is the same one. That is no way to speak to anybody despite them being a newbie. I have felt the force of that ones tongue on here, and it is not nice.
And, yes, I know there has been disagreements of late. They come and go, and people carry on.

Oh OK Colin from Hampshire was a lovely member of this site, he left and started up his own site as Is aid above. Now you come to mention it I vaguely remember Connections, never looked at it though.

Julia, just looking at a thread by a young newbie and I was appalled by the way somebody on there spoke about other members. So disparaging. I was so appalled that I have actually copied it. I am amazed that it has not been RRd.

When GR first started by Steve Pankhurst it was named Genes Connected back in 2002.then he sold it to ITV.Steve started Friends Reunited for his wife to trace old school friends.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2004/apr/29/media.newmedia

That site is about Steve who cared about his members but of course not everyone could get on with everyone so Colin From Hampshire started his own site named Connections but he cared about his members.

Now if people are leaving this site,I just wonder if they pay the small yearly fee of £9-95,then GR won't care as they will be getting new members paying 3/4 x as much in.

One - no

Two - no

Three - no

Four - no

Five - no

But that's me...I can't speak for anyone else.

ChAoTic, With the greatest respect, because you yourself are not experiencing any of the points that Rita bought up, does not mean that they are not happening as a whole, or any combination of, to other people. Yes, many have mentioned them before, on various threads and boards.
I would say, I have experienced all of them

Which is why I said at the end that I can't speak for anyone else.

Rita makes valid comments that will apply to some but not others.

Anyway I have to go out so I'm not ignoring anyone if I don't reply to any more posts that may be addressing me :-)

evening Julia and everyone

I havent read all this read through, but I am catching up with others, first from what I have just read from another thread, the self appointed board police reply to a newby who admits they are new to the site and havent a clue what they are doing, the short curt tone in their responce should be a good reason why some people post once and never return again, its laughable but they said they are not renewing next week all I can say is harrrayyy...and tar'ra :-D

As for people that are leaving because some disagrees with them, yep its time you got out in to the eal world abit and seen sunlight its only a public forum after all :-D

I haven't noticed too many people leaving? I know one deleted herself a few days ago, and we had one nearly left at the weekend so apart from Rambling Rose, who is attached to GR on a bungee rope :-D ;-) I don't view this as a real problem to be honest.

I do think some people who are perhaps not internet savvy, are a tad sensitive, but it takes all sorts, and it doesn't take long to learn that's how it is and it's a lot worse on some other forums. Any rucks on here are mere childsplay when compared to say, the political forums..

But, lets be honest. When there is a ruck on here, it's usually contained to just one thread, which you can choose to stay on or keep off.

I really don't think things are that bad on here that it would cause (or indeed HAS caused) people to leave in droves. Even the big shutdown a few years back had people leaving because a) this site had been shut down and b) there was a new one to go to. I note nearly everyone is back here now, so it's not that big a problem.

Usually those who flounce out in a hissy fit return a while later.
